Thinking about attending Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio - has anyone here ever done it?

Would like to hear your experiences.

Thanks - Sean

I always attend it.. to me the swap meet is the best part, it is huge you can barely see it all in 8 hours. as far as vintage racing I have never raced it, this year will be my first time.. the place has a new owner, hoping the mx track will be better.. the cross country track is always awesome

We've had people cover it for us before and the swap meet looks incredible...what classes are you racing?

Yep, the swap meet and and the entire scene is great to check out!

In my opinion though, what's NOT been so great is the mx track. The track has pretty much been flat with no kind of jumps whatsoever for the last few years...the real bummer though is that they've not had any kind of starting gate or rubber band setup to get the races started. They just use the ultra-lame hand on the helmet method. With the AMA promoting this as their vintage "national" you'd think they'd put a little effort into at least putting up a rubber band for the start!

Back when AHRMA was involved with the race, the track had a starting gate...not sure where that disappeared to?

I'm definitely going each day again this year as it's only a 45 minute drive, doing post vintage on Sunday.

The "event" is incredible, the MX track sucks. The swap meet is probably the best in the country. The MX track is probably the worst in the country even among vintage events. Its on the site of a former drive-in movie theater, its full of gravel and the only elevation changes are rolling humps where the cars used to park. Its a total joke of a track and is an embarrassment for AHRMA previously and the AMA now to tout it as the premier event on the calender. My friend "Chicago" Jerry lays out the cross country course every year, and it is always top notch.

A few years back it was SO dusty it was very unsafe if you didn't get the holeshot.

With the dust being so bad, the joke making it around the pits that year was...

"how do you know when you're starting to run off the track at Mid-Ohio?"

-------"when you start to hit coolers and lawn chairs"
