Well in my opinion Luongo is a joke. Always will be.

I think the shit that got pulled is bullshit and pretty disrespectful to the FIM WMX racers.

I get that Womens motocross is not everyone's cup of tea, but they don't deserve the disrespect that Luongo and the FIM are pulling.

They need to get their shit together.

Its just a picture, taken last year and used for an article promoting this years WMX. What's the big deal? Its probable that Sevlievo was the first time all the riders competing in this years series will have come together and definitely not worth starting a new thread about.

I understand the main grievances with Youthstream, but I don't get this petty crap where people are picking holes in the smallest of details too. It's pointless and actually a bit pathetic.

I fail to see how both MX-life and this article is Luongo`s fault?
Some people need to get off their high horse and see the big picture. Everything isn`t perfect, but this isn`t exactly a strong argument for claiming Luongo does a bad job.

MX before Luongo was unprofessional and th etalentpool was shite. The man deserves more creds than he gets

+1.

Scoring points on Vital by bashing YS / Luongo seems to get easier every season.

You should talk more about the fact that currently there is only 9 riders on the list for WMX next round in Greece. And they will probably cancel the rest of the championship.

Former champ Livia Lancelot won't be at any other GP race since this round was the only one running alongside the MX1/MX2 and teh rest of the champ is with the dodgy MX3 champ which receives zero coverage.

Livia will be fousing on a french championship, preparing for X Games (thought this was cancelled) and passing diplomas to be a rider instructor... Smart girl if you ask me.

The new talent has everything to do with YS. The tracks today are up to par with the American tracks, and the riders today have way more technical skills than 15 years ago. And this is needed to adapt to the new tracks.

Look at how embarrassingly bad the tracks were back in 1996 for example. San Marino, Roggenburg, etc, etc. The list goes on. they were little more than fields with a few natural bumps. Today the paddock, tracks and presentation is way better, and still improving.

Heck, look at 2001 and Dorna - now THAT was a disgrace. Luckily YS picked up the pieces and are trying to put them back together.

The way the riders have to pay their way to teams, or be picked up is just the wau it is done in many other motorsports. WRC, STCC, F1 etc. comes to mind. Same thing is happening in US MX/SX

Luongo cant afford decent web up dates because he has power boat and soccer team payments to make. MXGeoff must have gone for the beer, sunshine and shielas only.

The big deal is that he makes time for the mx1/mx2 to have their new picture, but no time for the women.....he's the one who makes final orders, say ok or not ok, so you say it is not his fault is bs.

GL can pretend he knew nothing of it, like he does when anything goes bad, and let's someone he pays take the blame. But this is about be EQUAL. And there is no equal when it comes to YS, YS PR, or even GL and the WMX.

Know before you speak.

if you want "equal" then race the mx2, last i checked it was not a "mens" class, just a displacement class.
Come to think of it, i don't think there are any series that are for men only, maybe that is unfair...

Gotta be honest, I hadn't heard of any girl racers until YS gave the girls the chance to race in front of the cameras. Thought they'd have been pumped for the leg up but there you go.

Little do you know that it wasn't youth stream wanting to "promoting" the girls without someone behind them to push YS to really promote them.

Since that someone isn't with YS anymore, the championship gone to sh*t.

I like watching the WMX races, but don't care if a small photograph accompanying a 2011 press release was taken the previous year. Nor, Im guessing, do the small minority of people who actually too the time to look at it.

Like it or not the WMX is still a sideshow. Specifically organising a group photograph of riders who are spread far and wide across Europe and the rest of the World is not only logistically very difficult, but expensive and ultimately not really worth it.

You do realize the girls are there at the race and YS can say" come to this area for picture" that take 5 to 10 minutes......how is that "logistically very difficult" and "expensive"???? Know what you're saying before saying it.

I don't like that people think we are a "sideshow", work and train hard, sometime harder then the mens. And do not get same respect. Why do you think Jamma? Honest.....

I think bc women are become more powerful and mens are scared of that.

That Press release is dated the 7th of April, the day most riders and teams were arriving in Bulgaria. Im guessing the press release was written and prepared before then, so when would have been a convenient time to gather all the riders together for a photograph? They would have been living and training in various countries.

There is a strong possibility that a new 2011 group photograph was taken at Sevlievo, AFTER the press release was published on the website. I just don't see the point of getting irritated by such an insignificant issue?!

Nobody is saying the women don't train hard or that they're not talented, they all fast and they deserve a championship status like they have. I wish them all the best and hope women's MX continues to grow but at present, whether you like it or not, it is still only a sideshow to MX1 & MX2.

then race the mx2 class...

Like I said earlier, by having a womans only class it does, by default, make it a "sideshow".

I'm sorry but to me it still issue of disrespect. They wait to post press release for guys with updated 2011 picture. They could've done the same for the women.

They didn't wait for girls, I think bc they didn't want to have to deal with it.

We have to look for details small like this bc if we don't we are continued over looked. Put yourself in our position for once, or more. You will not like it. You as well would be ranting and b*thing about "small stuff" like this.

Scoring points on Vital by bashing YS / Luongo seems to get easier every season.

Your shirt says nothing at all ... The girls where to stubborn for YS and GL so he will let the championship die just the same way like he did with the Supermoto ... Yeah that guy loves the motocross and is a real fan.

Bye the way the sponsors of those girls will be very happy... Look bye the way at this, VERY GOOD:

It is Rockstar Energy Suzuki from this year on Teka is now KTM his sponsor don't know but if make those fails you are a unworthy motocross promoter. But stay loving them Jefro and Jamma otherwise you maybe lose your free tickets en presscards Kissing

Its not disrespect! Its a small, out of date photograph that someone probably decided to use for a press release at the last minute and without even putting much thought into it. Yes a more recent photograph should have been used, but its better than nothing and its hardly a crime against women! Relax Smile

It sounds as though you're either a rider, related to a rider or associated with a team in some way... so maybe you should suggest a promotional shoot for the girls?

You should talk more about the fact that currently there is only 9 riders on the list for WMX next round in Greece. And they will probably cancel the rest of the championship.

Former champ Livia Lancelot won't be at any other GP race since this round was the only one running alongside the MX1/MX2 and teh rest of the champ is with the dodgy MX3 champ which receives zero coverage.

Livia will be fousing on a french championship, preparing for X Games (thought this was cancelled) and passing diplomas to be a rider instructor... Smart girl if you ask me.
In all business you are treated by your importance and a governing body and promotor are focused on one thing, making money. You think Bill Gates cares more about a janitor working at a Microsoft center in California than his personal secretary? The MX1 and MX2 classes bring most of the attention therefore they get most of the attention. They bring in a majority of the coverage and money therefore they get treated better. When was the last time you saw both WMA races broadcast live on location commercial free? Oh wait, us here in the U.S. apparently don't even care enough about it to to show it on the same platform and importance as the men. Shame on Alli and MX Sports! They're just as bad as Luongo with that mentality if you want to say that about Luongo. I actually watched both women's moto's before going to bed Saturday night. I don't give a damn what the press picture looks like. They didn't show the 2010 Women's race did they? They showed what they advertised in text and Steffie destroyed everyone. Maybe if some Women stepped up their game, AHEM, there would be some good battles and attention thrown back on to Women's MX. Look at the surge in popularity that Women's MX got here in the states when Fiolek finally dethroned Patterson and Patterson took her crown back the next year. Can't wait for this year!

Matti I don't love them, I'm just as aware of their faults as you are. I was very anti Youthstream a few years ago, but then I started looking at things objectively. Its easy to criticize, I could sit here all day picking faults in everything llike you seem to enjoy doing but sometimes you need to consider the bigger picture.

Thats not to say I accept and agree with the way Youthstream conduct their business operations, but Im at least willing to try and understand and accept some of them. Shouting and screaming about small issues like a sponsorship credit error that could easily have been made by a temporary member of the tv production staff, or an out of date photograph accompanying a WMX press release will get you nowhere and just seems a bit melodramatic to me.

Wow, one sponsor typo on a graphic and the whole world's gone to shiet!Shocked
it's easy to sit behind a computer screen and take cheap shots all day long at promoters, but lets face facts, Giuseppe Luongo has invested lot more into motocross than you or the other snipers will ever do!
As Ricky Johnson joked in the press conference at Franciacorta MXDN in 2009, " a lot of people think Giuseppe's a son of a bitch", but you know like Bernie Ecclesstone in F1, perhaps it needs an SOB to get things done around here!"
