Can't win when you race against a women. If you make a aggresive pass and god forbide have contact you are complete A hole, so you just have to wait for them to make a mistake.. Been there done that.

I'm not here to down anyone but go look at lap times from the outdoors last year where Evens and Patterson raced on the same track on the same day. You'll see while she is good, she's not near that speed. So no, I seriously doubt she was just plain faster. Without any details beyond what this guy posted my guess would be Evens spent some time on the ground and the turnout was light, because in the 2-stroke national Patterson just raced she didn't exactly set that class on fire. She was 16th out of 16.

Nutty: Are you comparing CMRC or TVR to US Pro racing? Lol If you need to initiate contact with a women at our washed up level, something needs to change in our racing mentality. I have had women slow me down when I raced and just looked for a different line to comepletely avoid the risk. As far as Jessica goes, well, maybe she just flat out whupped some ass. Good on her!

Just CMRC neighbour. TVR ,Steel City etc etc are club events and nothing more. They don't count as a race in my books but what do I know.. CMA up to 92 and CMRC up to now is the only race in the province. Guys that think otherwise are only fooling themselves and their girlfriends. That is why the scene sucks right now too many mickey mouse conflicting events.

I think both Jessica and Ashely could qualify for a national but probabley not break the top 20 (or score any national points)

The ladies are getting faster each season and their lap times were for the WMX and they might push a little bit harder knowing they need to go all out for a spot for a national.

I almost go beat by a girl. Needless to say it was 1987 and I was in the 80cc beginner class and it was a battle for 15th place, or something like that. Needless to say I got alot better....no seriously I did! Stop laughing!

I agree ,they are getting closer . Two years ago ago I would have said no way in hell but they have really stepped it up and so has the factories .... better bikes = faster times = confidence= qualify for a ama national...

They are not far off...one or two years tops .... Smile

your so wrong, much respect to jp$ but no way can she beat someone who got 8th in a main this year. Ben is blazing fast especially in outdoors.

You heard right! Grinning
I raced her in the 125 B class at Albany SX back in about 1988-89ish.
She beat me the first moto.....my Dad gave me so much shit about it!
But the second moto I beat her and also beat her in the OA for the day.

Stefie Laier might have something to say about this. She smoked Lancelot and Fontenasi (sp?) yesterday, was 10 seconds off the leaders in mx2 on a smoother track yesterday and fiolek has to get lucky to beat her if the past is any indication.

I beg to differ.. I'm sure its happened at other Nationals this past season.. but JP$'s fastest laptime in qualifying practice at Millville was only a second off the 40th place's qualifying lap time in the guys class. Right now, I bet JP would be pretty damn close.

I am not ashamed to say that I have been beat by a girl... And she was fucking hauling ass too!

Vicki Golden two weeks ago milestone.... Had nothing for her nor am I claiming to have national pro speed...

It is what is.... Oh well

i don't see a guy or girl on the track, i see a racer...

maybe it is because i grew up racing minis against Shelly Kann and was repeatedly beat by her. My dad never once gave me crap about it, we respected her the same as any racer and strived to beat her the same as any racer. When i got older I was able to put more speed on than her, but it never made feel better that i now could beet her just because she was a girl...

It's kinda crappy to say but i think the WMA and many other professional woman's sports actually slows the progress of their "movement". By having a separate woman's division it automatically asserts that they need their own division because they can't compete with the men in their given discipline.

I always cringe when i hear fathers give their sons crap about losing to a girl in anything, it really disgusts me... what a thing to teach your kid. Unsure

Uh oh, if this becomes a semi regular occurrence, the AMA might call for a tear down to make sure she is of stock displacement, and no chassis modifications.

These are the qualifying results between the 1st WMX time and the 40th MX time.

The only round that was close was at Pala where it was less than 1 second. At Pala the field looked to be a bit thin, I had to go up to 27th qualifying position before I found a name I had ever heard of for the guy's, with Josh Greco at 2:26.577

On average the time difference was 5.760 for the season excluding whatever happened at Freestone. The girls are definitely getting faster than ever, but they still have a bit of a gap to make up.

To really know for sure they are going to have to be on the track together at the same time to remove the variable of track conditions affecting times.

Hangtown
Tarah Geiger 2:29.573 1st WMX qualifier
Josh Greco 2:21.075 40th qualifier
difference 8.498 seconds

Freestone - times sheets are messed up at archive

Lakewood
Jessica Patterson 2:26.409
Sean Lipanovich 2: 20.740
dif 5.669

Millville
Ashley Fiolek 2:23.673
Michael Akaydin 2:17.605
dif 6.068

Southwick
Jessica Patterson 2:10.525
Tony Lorusso 2:05.568
