Pretty cool article on RacerX about national numbers from 1992. So many good memories from those years. Before you read the article, who is the rider on the Kawi at the end with the Fox gear?

So I remembered correctly, it was Naumec. My dad worked with Gene's uncle Charlie and we were supposed to stop at Gene's place in Brooksville on the way back home from a FL winter series race and ride his track. It turned out it was a full on SX course and Gene and Ryan Hughes were out motoing on the track. At the time I was a scrawny 17 year old who had just moved up to a 250 so I wisely left my bike on the trailer and watched them ride instead of getting in over my head. This should have been back in 1991 or 1992.

I got my first new motocross bike for christmas 91 so 92 was the beginning of my prime racing days. A 92 CR80. Probably the first SX we went to was 92. I quit all other sports for MX in 92. I raced a couple races in 91 but 92 is when we started racing every weekend.

First supercross was the Coliseum in 91' with my buddy Lopez whoe posts on here. I remember riding in the back of his dad's truck freezing our asses off in sleeping bags on the way down there. That was the year Bradshaw went inside of Bayle wide up in the peristyle and almost lost it coming to the finish line. And then we went the next year in 92' after the Los Angeles Riots!!! That was of course the year Bradshaw choked and couldn't pass Cooper for 4th.

Good point. I wish I would have ditched work today and stayed at home and just rode BMX all day.

Ross (Rollerball ) Pederson only managed a #80. Must have only made it to one race.

Mean Gene was a pretty bad dude. He and Swink caused all sorts of mischief down in the Brooksville / Ocala area back in the mid '90's.

Last I heard he was selling used cars in Alabama or something. His father owned a Ford dealer in CT, so that was the family business, or so I recall.

Is motocrossing like some sort of underground trend that never caught on?

It was! Kawasaki was the first one to switch to a transporter.
Here's a bit of trivia for you.....Who was Kawasaki's first transporter/semi driver? (hint:his son rode a Kawi that year)
