1971. 40,000 miles on it. 225 slant six.

It's a "survivor", but has had a very small amount of rust repaired in the lower quarters. The interior is immaculate. I'll post some more pictures tomorrow if the weather is decent.

I just showed my girlfriend this thread and she said she'd pose naked for you guys. Next to the car, that is.

We paid $7,000 for it. That might be a little on the high end since it's not a 340 car, or V8 even, but really, where the hell would I ever find another one like it that hasn't been restored?

They have paint brushes stuck up their asses? And since when are Civics considered "artsy"??

My cousin had a '71 Duster with a 340 in it. Bone stock engine, gearing etc. and even with an automatic he lost very few drag races in it regardless of what the other guy was running. It was certainly faster than my fully built '70 Mustang with a toploader 4 speed and 4.11 gears.

Oh the memories of nothing better to do than drink beer, drag race and chase girls...

Your image doesn't show but here's a '66:

Here's a '66:

Ours was powder blue as well but I do not remember what year it was. The reason the town cop chased me because I pulled into his usual parking spot on main street while he was out making his rounds and started the tires smoking and laid a black mark all the way down main street. As I was finishing up my deed I noticed him coming up behind me in my rear view mirror and it was "game on". Smile

Ummm, youre gonna need more than that, bigtime more.

Your gonna hafta change Kframes & torsion bars, tie the subframe together, those flimsy control arms and struts werent meant to hold up that kinda weight. Been there done that several times.

Oh, and that 8¼ rear end will shit itself on first romp of the gas pedal so a Dana-60 would be in order and a decent Torqueflight 727 also.

No shit?

No sub-rails under the body?

So the chassis isn't the shared plat-form of the big-motor cars from '71?

That sucks!

Im a Mopar fan, Ive owned and raced Mopar stuff on the dirt track and drag strip. But while they were making incredible innovations on powertrain, their chassis under the skin was flimsy in that time. Since the one above is a 6-pack car, the K-frame has to be changed or at least altered substantially to make room. Also the torsion bars on a 6-pack car will be like toothpicks, but there are Hemi bars available thru PST and places like that. I used those on my roundy-round car but they still werent big enough (I keep thinking they are 1.25" bars) The Demons/Darts will twist bigtime without subframe reinforcement. Well if you drive it like a granny, you probably could get away with OEM, but a true 426 has the torque to wrinkle the sheetmetal at various places. That Dart is still cool as hell though, if it was mine Id leave it bone-stock and enjoy the hell out of it.

This was a 383 I tried to put in a '72 Charger and it wouldnt fit with a deepsump pan. I ended up notching/boxing the Kframe to keep from changing it out.

Worse, yet...

I was thinkin' of one of the NEW crate Hemi's!

DOH!

Does the same problem exist in the 'Cuda/Challenger?

If you are meaning the newer smallblock Hemi, Im sure they have kits to retro fit them and you could do without all the serious mods, but Im not sure as Ive never even looked in to that and to me the newer smallblock really isnt a big deal for the most part. It does have a hemispherical head, but its not the firebreathing beast from the 60s. I thought you were alluding to a crate 426 like this:

As for the other cars you mentioned, if they came with a 426 they will have the Dana, 727 (or manual), and setup for that. Ive never worked on a Cuda or Challenger but am pretty sure they have the same Kframe & torsion bar setup. One thing Im not sure of, however, is if a 440/383 car would accept the 426 without much trouble, I would guess it might only be a motor mount change, but even then sometimes there are master cylinder issues, exhaust clearance problems, etc, with the 426.

My best friend owned this Dart and I had great fun sticking my foot into that 440 on weekends. It was reinforced 9-ways to sunday and even then it wrinkled from torque stress.

i get bitter at times. i live ten minutes from the #1 public arts school in America. i love art, but there's also a scene that comes along with it unfortunately, that draws people (girls) away from who they really are. i like being real and straight up with people. stay true to who you are, and never get stuck in a worthless scene that makes you oblivious and close-minded.

I was brought home from the hospital in a 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone, 289 HiPo with a 4 speed.

Fresh new hairdo sprawled across the hood boobie pic? Carefully of course don't want any dimples in the sheet metal.

I'm fairly confident she would do that. We've already talked about taking some nude shots with the car. She has a Playboy shoot on Wednesday, so she's not afraid to bare all.
