Reed and JS Dallas battle

Not trying to start another thread about the crash, but about what happened up till that point. Was anyone else a bit shocked to see James struggling in the early stages of the race? It didn't look like the whoops were the only part of the track giving him trouble either. It seems like in past years was always really fast in the opening laps and this year has been a different story.

In Dallas I thought once James passed Reed for second he looked good and was going to go after Canard, instead it seemed like he got a little tight and Reed got back by him. You have to wonder if Reed isn't in Stewart's head a little bit and that caused James to ride tight once in front of Reed.

At least from the sidelines it has looked like James has struggled with corners on this Yamaha, and yet in practice he is still laying down the fastest times. So what gives?

Its too bad the crash in the whoops happened because they were definitely closing in on Canard up till point, looked like a great battle shaping up.

Reed was absolutely flying around the track. He was scrubbing under Stewart on the triple in front of us and would make up a ton of time, could have easily slammed him several times in the corner before the whoops.

i agree, it seemed to me like reed was more than comfortable with the pace aside from a couple mistakes allowing stewart to get close.

something seems off, and it is more apparent now than ever

Stewart was going to eat it at some point during those 20 laps. He was clearly riding over his head. Reed looked confident and strong.

Stewart may have made some changes to his setup or something because before the main (even some laps during the main) he was flying through the whoops. I have several photo sequences where he was at least 2 bike lengths behind going into the whoops and would catch whoever was in front of him by the exit. Towards the end of the main he was even wheelieing through the last half of the whoops before the finish.

He looked very fast all night but a little bit less controlled during the main. Reed looked like he made some good changes and was flowing better during the main than he did during practice and the heats.

Hard to say, I thought James looked to be getting comfortable before the crash, he wasn't right on Reed until Reed missed the section before the whoops, but they were both gaining time on Canard, and Stewart was chipping away at Reed on laps 7 and 8.

Did you guy notice Stewart slam Reed pretty good on the first lap??

I was going to throw that out there as well. Reed took a pretty decent hit from James early on. And then to be taken out by James later must have pissed Chad off quite a bit. Even if it was an accident.

Something else I noticed. Looked like Stewart was actually going backwards at one point during his out of control moment into Reed. Will he get penalized for that?Wink

Isn't that what was said about Reed after Atlanta?

James looked fine besides the whoops.
I think its hard to admit for the JS fans that he isn't always Mr.Invincible
and that sometimes RV,CR,TC and RD can run his pace or better then his pace.

I was thinking about getting into Sidecar racing. I hear it's real big in the Riga LVA regions.
