I can't believe how many people didn't see the holes in the story. The typo's on his last name in the court summary....C'mon Really! There are a shit load of James Stewards that actually live in Florida to begin with, but no one looked into that. The mug shot and video of him coming out of the cop shop were as amateur-ish as they can get! The stories differed quite a bit between the taped officer and the lady officer at the impound. Also, wasn't much of an impound area at the cop shop. He's definitely the most famous racer now.

if it really is a hoax then i will be amazed... the mug shots alone tell the story. my mugshot from 5 years ago looks almost as sorry assed and "i'm fucked" as both of theirs do

People still think this is a prank? Seriously? I can see GuyB is probably messing with people by writing that... but the fact that people believe it is incredible.

i don't believe it is for a second, however, if it is then it will certainly make me feel pretty silly.

Channel locks and vice grips can fix anything.

What's the Gatorade for???

Maybe the channel locks were to take the lid off.

What if it really happened? But they are just going to pretend that it was a prank when in fact it wasn't a prank. Then just at the right time, when everybody is confused, they will announce that the prank was in fact what really did happen.

Something like that, yeah that's it.

I can't believe it was a prank- they had audio of the 911 call on local news sites. I can't believe reporters would go along with that. No mainstream news editor would run a hoax like that.
I am 99.9% sure this one is legit, unless James was able to enlist the police department and local news to be a part of it. Seems highly unlikely.

I found it funny that Racer X posted on their website to NOT expect an April Fools prank from them this year, they went out of their way to write up a big thing saying how much they love doing April Fools pranks, but they wont be doing one this year.......so don't expect one from them. Seems to me they are trying to make sure we have out guards down. One more day and we'll know for sure.

I'm in CA and this was never on the news here, how many people saw it on the news? FL only ? I know MX isn't as huge as most main stream sports, but I would have thought it would at least made it on the news here, seriously if I see those two baby twin boys who they say have their own language again I'll huck my TV out the window, James would be news worthy if they are.

It was on the news here in Dallas, and also on Fox Sports and ESPN. But all of them just picked up the local news story from Florida. It's that damn "d" in the case file that is giving me pause. It would definitely be unprecedented for a public figure with backing from an indian tribe that is on record as saying the main reason they sponsor him is because of the positive influence on the youth of the tribe to then fake his own arrest and let the story simmer for a week.

Yeah, regardless if it has something to do with the Stewart thing or not, I'm pretty sure they will be pulling something off.

I lived in Florida when I went to college. Let me just tell you that all the media outlets that were used are real. The Miami Herald, The Orlando Sentinel, Sun Sentinel, WFTV. Plus if you did a search for that incident, you pulled up The Washington Post and some other big name news outlets.

I'm with you guys though, it's like Christmas Eve today and I am wondering if it was or wasn't. If it was, I don't how you top that.

Would be classic for sure.

If, and I remain unconvinced, this was an early April fools day prank, then the real fool is James Stewart. With 5 of the most important Supercross races in his life coming up, he's suposedly pre-occupied in messing with us!, instead of training and concentrating on the task in hand......................winning the 2011 Supercross title!
Have Chad Reed, Ryan Villlopoto, Ryan Dungey or Trey Canard been all over the media and internet since Toronto?? NO because they have more important things on their minds.
Sounds to me like this is a smokescreen to try & play down the incident.

Yeah but ESPN are pranksters all the time, they always have funny commercials and pull pranks on athletes, they could be a part of this elaborate plan!
