CRF 150R 2009 Expert

Hey. i am looking in to getting a 150R expert. i have a suzuki DR-Z i can jump around 30 feet on it.
so i was wondering what age you have to be to ride in a 150R expert group and what the biggest jumps genrally are? (if of course the bike is rite)

PS i am 130 pounds and 5'7

Tranis Patrami was riding 250's back when he was your age, Have you ever heard of him?

Around these parts the 150's are only allowed in the supermini and schoolboy classes--I think. I'm a little old for those classes. Get a two smoke kid...and ride like Travis Pastromini.

My dad works a honda and he gets high discounts on them. also they are lower tech and slower the 150Rs from what i have herd

it will be a completely different bike than your DR-Z........do you plan on racing or trail/fun riding???

The 150 is hardcore race bike that you are gonna have to ride VERY aggressively to make it preform the way it was designed.


C'mon guys. This is some kid looking for advise from some old fart racers. Be kind and give the guy some PRACTICAL advise.......NOT the vital BS.

How old are you? Assuming your not 10 at 5'7" you'd be better served to go find a used 125 2 stroke and learn how to ride on it.

check out the forum at thumpertalk.com. There is a sub-forum on the CRF150 with a lot of information on the bike that you might find helpful. We had one for my son but ended up selling it for a CR85 in order to race in the 85cc class. The supermini class is very tough ifyou have never raced.

the biggest jumps you'll be doing will be around 200-300 ft. no big deal, right?

I wouldn't

Im like 5'4 115 lbs and I ride a Kx100. You should just pick up a used 125, save some cash and allow you to grow into it.

I se where your coming from but i can get a 150 for virtualy the same price and it has better performance. Thanks smeg.. i plan to start racing and being on a super mini track 3-5 times a week with my buddy thats 4th overall in Canada

It sounds like your mind is already set. The 150 is kind of a cool little bike for playing around, but if you get such a great deal on Hondas then why not get a left over CRF250R. I'm there are a few.
