Along with fruitcakes, and those macaroni salads with unrecognizable, multi colored, chopped up stuff mixed in.
All the shit they covered in saran wrap, or put in cool whip containers, and tried to send you home with because, "you're too skinny".
And no matter how many times you try it but dont like it, your always told you need to try the confection salad.🤢
My mom had a killer recipe for chex mix. All the good cereals, peanuts, minimal pretzels, lots of butter and Worchestershire sauce, and seasonings, with a bit of pepper heat.
She brought a lot of it to holiday gatherings, and it would go quick, usually long before the actual dinner. Leaving the other weak mixes sitting there to be eaten last.
She never wrote it down.
And after she passed, I thoroughly scoured her recipes for it.
Only thing I found was her 7up cake, and fried okra recipe's that she kept secret. (Add a little sugar to the batter to make the okra crispy)
There's a reason you see this at every funeral meal.🙃

Crispy fried okra is one of my guilty pleasures. Not very easy to find.
You gotta put the pineapple in there. 😆
Ah, the old jellied salad debate...
Not all fruitcake is bad Joey…..💯
They make great wheel chocks for your trailer.
So I guess you're right.
I’ve never tried or even seen okra before. Is it a Southern thing?
That sir is disgusting. 😂
WHAT?!?!?
Damn, son...
I'm not even sure we have it in our grocery stores up here in the PNW.
You have my sympathies.
It's a southern staple.
But we ate a lot of it growing up in San Diego county.
Gotta pick the small tender pods.
Leave the bigger ones to seed.
Then a corn meal batter fried in lard.
A little ketchup, and I could eat it for dessert.
My mom used to make, mealed potatoes, slicing taters like thick chips, and battering them in the same mix, and frying.
Test.
😂
Primarily, yes. I think you would really like it. Give me some crispy friend okra and a bottle of hot sauce and I'm one happy camper!
Get to it! Get to tryin' different mixes and ratios and "Get'er done!"
WE WANT ANSWERS 🤣
Seriously, gettin' that figured out would be awesome. I've had this type of mix before and it is wonderful.
Pit Row
I've tried to replicate it.
I seem to remember, season salt, a bit of lawry's taco seasoning, lots of butter and Worchestershire sauce. I'd bet a bit of brown sugar. A crapshoot as to the ratios.
Corn, rice, and wheat chex.
Kix.
Cheerios.
Peanuts.
A few pretzel sticks broken up into little pieces.
My Dad and Uncle swapped exact same fruitcake back and forth at Christmas for years. It never changed in appearance…. Eventually, they took to gifting each other ordinary bricks painted gold——every year. 🤣
Anyone a member of the Jelly of the Month club?
That’s a gift that keeps on giving the whole year.
I’m gonna see if they have it in the grocery stores up here. I’d like to try it.

There you go, buddy! Let us know how you like it.
For me, at it's best okra is the inert/bland/tasteless carrier for a seasoned breading and/or sauce.
Most of the time, though, it's a bitter weed that I hope to never have to encounter again in my life!!!!
My dad liked it, but coming from a VERY poor family it was just something that he had to like or go hungry I think.
Well not everything can be a big bag of taco bell burritos.
SMDH.
I’d bet Kenny puts carrots, pineapple and, whipped cream on his FKN tacos
Kenny’s quickly working towards the first food-related time out. Probably thinks candy corn is the best Halloween treat. Blasphemy!
Don’t be ridiculous….. I like the Orange Peanuts! Particularly the orange peanut milkshake!😆
Not the whip!😆
If you come out and say you like marshmallow peeps, that's it.
You'll be reported !!!
