Riding a “worse” engine is one thing but taking a team to a national just to tank and try not to qualify is wild. Say what you want. RC never did it, RV never did it, Dungey never did it, Reed never did it, Stew literally died trying on a terrible JGR bike. To lay down and not qualify is just bananas.

Either way props to Prado. He was shredding, next year should be a doozy.

Props to Prado for steadfastly believing he was right no matter what people said, knowing his true capabilities and be willing to put his reputation on the line to prove it to himself.

Well done young man.

I'm not confident you understand what the word "literally" means.

You think prado made the team go to the national just so he could roll around 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

He was contracted to be at the races, kawi would have told him he has to be there. Pretty sure if kawi gave him the choice to not race he would have hence the rolling round trying not to qualify.

Hes more than proved himself to be correct about the kawi.

It’s being used as an expression, when you seen stew crash, it looked like death. The guy had 9 lives then sold his soul to the devil for a few more.

I didn’t say he made them? He went to a national with a team to tank a race trying to get fired to get out of his contract. Yeah he was right, he was better on a ktm, but your telling me you were ok with what he did? Everyone around here acts like this bike was un rideable is just showing they never watched good guys rider terrible bikes from the past. He came into sx coming off an injury and got hurt again. Then had outdoor results that were everywhere, he would have got dog walked by Jett last year if he was on a KTM. Take some pride in your craft. As I stated before. I’ve never seen a legend tank a race. MC, RC, Reed, Stew, etc gave it their all. And all this checks out when you talk to his team from Europe.

He did have some pride. So much in fact he wasn’t willing to waste 3 years on an incompetent team.

Way different ways to go about it. Tons of contracts have ended early amicably. Prados case is not something that hasn’t happened before.

He really didn’t do anything near as bad as you all make it out to be. He was honest in interviews, saying the bikes not where it needs to be, he’s waiting on the team to get it there. He could win if the bike is right. The budds scenario he was coming into the pits asking for changes , had his fast laps ruined, never got a clean lap, everyone ran with the deliberately tried to not qualify story. Meanwhile he finished like 5th overall for the season… better than sexton and marchbanks this year…

He was proven right each step.

Do you know exactly what was going on between Prado and the team behind closed doors and in private at the test track? Because you can’t truly make that claim unless you do.

It’s fun to go back and see how many here, main media guys etc thought sexton would be beating Prado, let alone marchbanks too.

Marchbanks is doing well for his level, but he isn’t Prados level at all.

It’s clear the kawi has sexton as uncomfortable as he’s ever been.

And it’s clear the Ktm was a massive improvement for Prado.

Prado 50, kawi team 0

I know Mitch is against it, but Kawi would benefit from having PC run their 450 program (similar to Star). Certainly better than they have right now.

Mitch doesn’t seem against it. More so he wants / needs it to come from kawi themselves he isn’t going to suggest it.

The only thing I can think of that would counter that, is.  Is Marchbanks being held back from the Kawi.  I mean, he's running in or faster than Prado and Sexton.  Is it bike limiting?  Makes you wonder. Seems the Kawi is good up to about 5th place. Then it gets sketchy???

Marchbanks is riding for money and for his livelihood. Prado has money. Prado wants to win. He felt the team wasn’t delivering a bike capable of winning, wasn’t making the changes, was complement.

He had to leave to get back to being capable of titles

So your point is great and I agree it’s not holding marchbanks back per se, but also what options does he have? This deal is the best he’s going to get, Prado had a very different situation and expectations.

Basically marchbanks has to make the best of it, he wouldn’t have gotten an extension or any other offers flooding in if he hasn’t handled it how he did. He needs this he’s just getting started really earning and saving etc.

Hope that makes sense.

Agreed. Both Sexton and Prado rode the bike and thought it had enough potential to be a championship winning machine - with the right setup and mods. Both ran into a brick wall - after getting into the ins and out of the race team.

Firmly agree. It's got to be the team - there's nothing between the 450s except nuance with the top guys on them, someone like Prado might feel more "comfortable" on a steel frame, etc, but that's down to tracks and conditions.

Have Star take over the Kawi program overnight, by the end of the first full season it would look like a different bike.

A few toxic people can sabotage efforts of any size in a way that's very disproportionate to their number.

lol Sexton did beat Prado this year. Which of the 2 has a Supercross win?

Marchbanks isn't a world champion so no he isn't on Prado's level but he is overachieving on the Kawi

I'm just saying, we don't know if Marchbanks, could run top 3 or not.  Meaning, probably not, but it could be the bike holding him back a little.  Like I said, it sure seems like the Kawi is a good amateur bike and a good top 5 bike.  Going past that, seems to be the issue.  We just can't be for sure if Marchbanks could or couldn't run top 3.  It's likely top 5 is his ceiling, but we will probably never know.  Unless the 2027 bike comes and he starts running top 3.

As far as the team goes.  It's obvious, that's atleast 60% of the problem, if not higher.  It's been that way for how many years, where ex riders say it.  A clean house of atleast upper management would be a good thing.

The Kawi bike and team is enough to handle Marchbanks capability… i think even Mookie will realize their incapability to create a proper winning bike and team environment.
