The SMX series was a response to the ending of Feld Motorsports promotion of World Championship series contract with FIM ending on June 30th 2021.

Feld didnt like the new terms and declined extension so, FIM found a new promoter and WSX was born. The FIM also exercised their right to prohibit use of  "World Championship or any other related moniker by Feld to promote racing. 

 Feld Motorsport (promoter entity of Feld Entertainment)  violated the original contract that FIM had with Dorna Off Road who assigned to live Nation which Feld Motorsports ultimately assumed. 

FIM filed suit against Feld exercising arbitration rights through CAS in Switzerland and a panel ruled in favor of the FIM.  The FIM had to petition the court again recently to remind Feld of the ruling.  

The sport is headed in the direction that Liberty Media is taking F1 and Moto GP which is not good for the athletes.  Its becoming more of a soap opera, (like mainstream sports), and less grass roots, traditional, rider oriented based. 

If the increase in drama that has unfolded in each race hasn't struck diehard fans as odd, then they are now part of this new world mandate to increase viewership through personal connection and not though niche sport, true gladiator relation. 

And yes I'm aware of my last post was years ago so no need to remind.  It just seems the war for television between Feld and FIM has left some with little understanding as to the why.

Feld is just in the market to leverage your adolescents against your wallet, any way they can, engines or no engines.  I need to dig up new photos of Ken Felds three stygian witch daughters.
