This weekend when it happened I actually thought this was the 1 time the ama actually got it right, but now a few days later when I hear pelletier explain it again on title 24 Im like wait a second that makes no gd sense. “Jett went off track for a couple markers and immediately shut it down and did not gain an advantage and actually lost a bunch of time but we want riders to stay on the track so its 1 license point”.

If you really think about what hes saying its if you ever go off the track by accident and do everything right that they say youre supposed to do no matter what you still get a penalty. Thats actually crazy. So basically if you ever go off the track its an automatic penalty no matter what and you cant do anything about it. Wtf is that?

I love listening to Mike explain rules.  It’s the most word soup, matter of fact nothing burger like 80% of the time.

I agree though.  Following the rules should not be an infraction.

The standard being set here that even if you do everything that we ask you to do when you go off the track no matter what you still get penalized. Thats a ridiculous standard to set. Yea its just 1 license point, but its still absolutely bananas.

In road racing, what happens if you go inside the red and white track markers? It doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not, you will still get a warning or penalty. In this case, license points are essentially a warning since you need to accrue so many of them before a penalty is applied.

They asked you to stay on the track and you didn't, so you didn't do everything they asked.

The AMA screws up plenty but this is nothing.

Not true, its only if you go in the green (Moto GP), certain spots on the track it pays to go off-track, so they paint it green and the 3rd time its a penalty (long lap). Or if its on the last lap and you go in the green, you get a penalty (can't remember if its 3 seconds or 3 positions).

If they want warnings then implement warnings.

Is that not essentially what license points are? A way to track the amount of “warnings” a rider gets until they have to turn it into a penalty.

And it seems it has nothing to do with your AMA license correct?

Regardless of all the "rules" talk, does anyone honestly believe that if the roles were reversed the outcome would be the same? Really? 🤔
