I used to be one of the BMX rats that ran with your brother Dale, Scott Lorenz, Chip Callaway, Skelly and that bunch. I used to ride in that field just down the street from your old house on Pocahontas(?) ,behind the Majik Market, on an orange Kawasaki 100, in '74-'75.
I remember Dale used to have one of Monte's (yours ?) old bikes. It was a '73 Yamaha 175, with the gold tank with the black stripe on it. Hope you can get ahold of old MoFu.

i remember you well!! as soon as i saw the name,hope hope all is well with you..its been a loooong time,but we did have fun back then.you have a good memory..you just reminded me of the dimise of that 175 that won so many races at golden eagles,with mofu at the buisness end..thats neat..my mom still lives there and i still visit bout once a month , so if you want give me a call @229-251-9912 And Give Me yours we Can Get together At the Point after ,Weather you drink or not or any were,and we can gather up ole times....and yes i'd sure like to see ole mofu.......Talk soon doug....call me....thnx again doug............dave

I'll give you a call , Dave. I gave up drinking,partying a few years ago, but would love to catch up with you.The Point After Pub? Last time I went to the dentist, I was looking across the street at that place, and it appeared to be closed up.  My dentist office is built in the old field behind the Majik Market. We could hit the Wing House, lots of nice "scenery" in that place.     Monte was just incredible during his era. I remember seeing him crash off of McCoy's mountain, knocking a tooth out, and getting up to finish the moto.I think he still won it, if I remember correctly. The Daytona 500 class support win in '76. Battling with Hannah in '78 and BH flipping him off at the St.Pete Winter-Am. Going to the LA coliseum and not being allowed to ride after I believe his bike went into the stands in '78. And finishing up his career on the KTM deal.
   A friend of mine, Barry Weinberg (Koala Bear), took so many 8mm movies from those days at Sunshine. The mini elsie days, MM and his patented jump style, Multi-Mile BMX stuff. I have not seen him in years, but often wonder what ever came of all of that footage he shot.

The last time I saw Monte McCoy was in Tampa. We were working on the same project "The Monte Carlo" highrise on Bayshore Blvd. He was a plasterer and I was a mason. He had a Yamaha SR 500 street bike and I had a xs 500, we'd hit what little twisties there were on the way home from work. 1983. Hell of a nice human.

Monte is back riding a modern 450 thumper, just talked with him the other day. He' s getting ready for the Gold Cups and says he hopes to kick some 50 plus class Butt. I know I'm looking forward to see him do it again. Good to hear Monte Hoge is still around.

hey croom guy!! thnx for the input ,and i did get in touch with mofu thanx to another moto old guy from gainsville! thnx...by the way how much time do you have on the F-22??.....dave p.s. dont be sorry!! it's spelled Monte with an E!! dave
