25 KX250F almost cuts off at Wide Open Throttle

Trying to get some opinions on what’s wrong with my bike.

I was running some VP T4+ for some time (3 pales) and I noticed about halfway through the 3rd pale, my bike started to do bog one day (specifically at the beginning of the day) at wide open throttle.

It stopped doing it after my first moto. For the next 4-5 times I rode, it would do it maybe 2-3 times at the beginning of my first moto, and maybe once during the 2nd moto. At this point I switched to straight 93 non ethanol.

Then the last 2 times I rode it, it bogged literally one time at the beginning and I figured it just needed to clean itself up.

This last time I rode, it bogged once at “wide open throttle” position, and then I rode all day with no issues. At the end of the day, I started hitting throwing whips with the fellas and as I went to triple this one jump, I cased it a little and I didn’t realize it had bogged I guess.

I then hit the next jump and when I whipped, I wide open throttled while bringing the whip back and the bike almost cut off on me until I let off. I thought that was it lol.

After that, I did a lap no jumping and every time I hit wide open throttle it bogged/acted like it was gonna shut off.

But as long as it wasn’t wide open 100% throttle, no bog.

I’m going to take out the injector to go get it cleaned, and I’m really hoping it’s not my fuel pump because they’re so expensive.

Question, if it is my injector, do I also need to remove the direct injector in the airbox to get it cleaned as well?

Let me know what yall think, thanks!!

The upstream injector handles higher rpm so that would be one you would want to test and clean as part of the process.

Thanks man, Im guessing the "upstream injector" would be the one located on the fuel rail/throttle body?

It's the opposite.   The injector in the airbox/air boot is the upstream (which kicks in at higher rpms and fires alongside the other injector.).  The injector on the throttle body is the downstream.

Naming aside.  It is good to clean the one in the airbox/air boot too and make sure its operating correctly, as that one should be firing during the throttle areas that you are describing hesitation or bogging.

Thank you dude. I'm gonna just pull both tomorrow for safe measure and go get them cleaned! Glad I asked cus I was going to ignore the airbox injector LOL. Thanks again, Ill report back when I have this resolved!
