After the 1992 election, the Washington press corps was polled as to how they voted. 89% clinton 7% Bush. Popular vote 43% Clinton 37% Bush. There's your debate answer.

Wow! Not surprised, but those are crazy numbers.

You are already crossing the streams in your question. Partisan politics will never solve any problems. This is how we got here in the first place.

Real change and healing asa country comes from not looking at your neighbor who might not think the way you do as the problem, but your ally in taking back what's rightfully ours from our rotten government.

A unified people can change things around here quickly and efficiently, if we just stopped throwing flaming bags of dog shit over each other's fences.

I’ll be quite honest we are already too far gone as people. The left is already calling for, revolution, violence, and blood in the streets.

It’s time for a National Divorce, amicably, before we have what the left is spoiling for, Civil War II.

i'm not disagreeing that media generally leans left, that trend line also follows the popular vote in presidential elections since the 1970's. I guess it brings up an interesting debate. Which one is the cause and which one is the effect?  What has more influence, the general population on the news, or the other way around?  I'd like to believe its the former, but I bet I'm wrong.

Stuff like this video, should make all of us stand up and say, “Now just wait a  damn minute”.

That is the Pro Trump company that has been buying up TV stations all over the country. The one that took Kimmal off their stations for a week or two longer than he was off the main network.

All sinclair stations have must read news stories that they have to do.  I saw a report  on it that talked about it.  SOme stations would run them at 3am some would do them during primetime . But they had to run the exact same segment.

Another reason You see a united voice among media is the AP.   The associated press. TV and radio stations get a feed of national news that is reported and written up nicely for them to use. That's how certain words start being used all of a sudden by every station.

Back when my mom was doing on air stuff on the radio. It was a fax that came through. They called it the AP wire.  And most stations use it to get national news stories. They may not report all of the news they get in. But its a part of it. With only the local level  investigating and confirmation  being done by the locals. And the National stories often just taken from the AP. Sometimes word for word. Other times they will have writers rewrite it so it doesn't sound identical.

Every single one of the companies left that operate in that theatre know how to play the game, and that's all they are doing. Create rage against the other side and cash those ad checks.

How do you kill the bear (U.S.) when neither the lion (China) or the wolf (Russia) can do it alone? Disease, disease kills the bear. That's where we are at as a country, infected by partisan politics and outside influence.

I agree with this. Is the solution going to come from citizens who lean left or citizens who lean right? It’s damn sure not going to come from government or the media. I think when acknowledging the solution won’t come from government then it has to come from the right. More government is never the answer. That is what the left wants and represents. More government.

You clearly don’t get it.

Russia did interfere with the 2016 election that is a fact. Even the documents that Trump just declassified from his speech say the exact same thing. What wasn’t proven was that Trump colluded with Russia.  But that being said The Mueller report did not exonerate Trump!

Russian election interference

Mueller concluded that:

  • Russia interfered in the 2016 election in a “sweeping and systematic fashion.”
  • Russian actors used social media operations and hacked/disclosed Democratic Party emails to influence the election environment.

Ya think Russia and China sat out the 2020 and 2024 elections, because they had a change of heart and suddenly believed in "fair and free" elections?

Newsflash, hotshot -- as fucked up as the US voting system is, EVERYBODY takes a shot at it. Case of Bud Light (each) says North Korea, India, Israel, Iran, Saudi, France, UK, Germany. Nigeria, Mexico and a few more do too...... or try. It ain't hard!

As long as anybody can vote by mail and citizenship isn't verified AT THE POLLS, voting does about as much good as seatbelts on a KTM 450.

You do realize that  just because You cast a ballot doesn't mean that it is automatically counted right?  They do have ways they check to make sure people only vote one time. And that same process could confirm they are legal to vote by requiring the proof to register.Ann states that require you to register to vote require at minimum something to prove You are who You claim and many do require proof of citizenship of the state or town the voter lives in at minimum.    Ballots are rejected for multiple reasons. Its really hard to find any data on in person ballot rejection rates.  Mail in ballots have the best stats available. with the national average being 1.5 % rejection rate. And one state had a just under 9% rejection rate . I think it was Arizona.

If Your worried about people making fake IDs' or using fake IDs' to vote, requiring ID will not do anything to filter that out.  Unless they had a foolproof process for matching the photo on an ID to the photo that is supposed to be on the ID. People could still use another identity if that is what people are worried about.  They have had a system in place to make sure a voters vote only gets counted once. Even if they try voting more than 1 time. The voter ID number tracks the vote and lets them know if it has been used.  It is publicly available info in most states. You can not see what the votes were for as far as candidate level. But  You can see who voted in what elections and how they were registered to vote at the time.

I do think its funny to see a similar argument from the opposite sides of the political spectrum when it comes to gun control.  With one side sometimes arguing that requiring ID to buy a gun is against the constitution  and overreach. And the other saying that if it stopped just one death it would be worth the impact to legal gun owners.

And then You see similar arguments for and against certain levels of ID being required for voting , but it's mostly flipped to the opposite side of the political spectrum.

Its funny to think about how similar the  two arguments really are. And how they just get flipped to the opposite party  but the arguments ( both for and against ) stay similar.

"You do realize that  just because You cast a ballot doesn't mean that it is automatically counted right?  They do have ways they check to make sure people only vote one time."

Unless it's the people counting your vote that want it counted twice. You did see the video of election workers running stacks of ballots through the tabulator multiple times right?

You don't have to believe me, but maybe at least believe your eyes.

“Democracy. Save our Democracy. Threat to our Democracy”. That all started around 2016.

Has people believing we’re a Democracy. The United States is NOT and has NEVER been a Democracy, EVER.

No I get all that which I why I posed the question.  And it’s also why I don’t make a habit of consuming televised news. I’m positive there are many people on both sides who are programmed by what they watch or read. Several of them joined in on this topic. But I can also see there are several here who can see the forrest for the trees. I just wonder where the balance lies at a big inflection point in history.

My guess is that Soggy already looked it up and found out it was totally true. The person who actually conducted the survey was Elaine Povitch. She was later questioned by the Washington Times about how that confirmed the right's contention that the press was biased. She said that she was certain that they all were able to put their bias aside and accurately report on the candidates. You believe her don't you?

It's realle hardt to type while I am laufing.

I don’t think either side has the answer.

What I think should change and we probably agree on, term limits for Congress and Supreme Court, no PAC’s, no corporate lobbying, no multi-generational career family politicians.

Stuff we probably all agree on but they keep the focus off that and try to have you think your neighbor is the devil.

I’m saying there is likely context to it that is missing and a fundamental misunderstanding of how those machines work. And also you posted an OAN video that was posted by Trump. So I can say for sure it will be highly biased to his viewpoint.

What? We went from "proven untrue" to "biased" in seconds? Should I have posted the security footage from someone else's account? Would that make it different? My understanding was/is it's the raw security footage. So you're saying now it's missing the "spin" factor for context?

Sadly it's not limited to a single party. You can find lots of clips that can be taken in or out of context from people in both parties.

But the leaders are the problem. I don't think the majority of people who have voted either way are interested in real violence.

Keeping the voters, the regular people, the worker bee's, all busy arguing with each other helps them keep doing what they are doing.  Instead of holding them accountable when they are doing stuff we dislike we vote for who we believe is the lesser evil.  And return to blaming each other for the mess. Fighting over so many things using the same points to argue them , just flipping who plays which part in each. As long as we keep electing people that are playing us all against each other and showing them that it's working to motivate voting and make  donations, we will keep heading in that direction until something breaks.

Who is it that’s attacking Federal Buildings, impeding law enforcement, and agitating violence? One side is looking to light the candles and the other side is so fat, lazy, and complacent, that they’re letting it happen.

Funny how the same crowd that swear on their mother's grave that "the Russians interfered with US elections"  deny that China does the same.... because Trump said so. 🤣

They do have ways they check to make...

I don’t think anyone really is saying no voter Id, I’m not. But it needs to be done in a way that it still promotes voter turnout and doesn’t hinder certain groups of people.  We need more eligible voters voting, not less.

TM

Do you know how the process is supposed to look? Or if the machines will allow a vote to be counted more than one time? The reason they say that they were fed multiple times?

A lot can look wrong if You are told its wrong, and have no idea what right is supposed to look like.  If votes were counted multiple times, it could be proven by there being more votes than voter ids that voted. Info that is publically available from most states.

If votes were counted twice, they would have caught it on one of the recounts or multiple investigations that have happened. But instead there is a video.

Do you have intimate knowledge of how those machines work?  There are explanations that make sense. Like each batch must be saved after it’s ran or its starts over. Each ballot also has unique bar codes to prevent duplicates. If it was as you portray it would be the most open and shut case in history and how many have gone to jail?

As moogenken said believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.

Well, They/Them what is your solution? The reason voter turnout is so low is mostly because people have lost faith in the integrity of the system. They don’t believe that their vote counts, so why bother.

We have to keep foreign entities from interfering in our elections, be that Russia, China, or Mexico.

Mail in ballots have to go away. When they announced all the mail in ballots in 2020? Already predicted the outcome and the rage and that the as in June.

Ancient history? That’s hilarious. I’ve seen enough footage to know it wasn’t peaceful.

Funny how you want to ignore fairly recent history but are the same people that blame Biden or Obama for all of the failures of Trump.  For the last 20 years almost 80% political violence has come from the right and less than 10% from the left, according to US Accountability Office (GAO)
