I'm sure you can find ignorant assholes in the parking lot of Wimbledon or the Kentucky Derby. I wouldn't tie so much to our sport, and I don't think the guy in the video is either.
Personally I think that’s a bit of a cavalier take. he says he wanted to get out of his car but knew he’d be surrounding by even more people who felt the same way, which is more likely true then not.
He’s not just some guy, Sal Masakala (sp?) has been around sports as long as I can remember.
And yea I’m sure you could go to any predominantly white sporting events and find the same thing. That’s kind of the point.
Sal is the man. And yes as a white dude who owns a truck that’s embarrassing.
Well, I'm glad he's telling his story. There are some real shitty people that walk among us. While I don't associate it with our sport, it would be a lie to claim we don't have shitty people in our sport. And I would hope that one day he parks next to me at a supercross or Pala or anywhere and has a different example of a white person that treats him as an equal, not black, not brown, not white, just another person that likes something the same as I do. And maybe other things too, so he can know that it's not all white people that are shitty, but a few. Unfortunately the few have such a profound impact on his life that in his world it feels like all white people are shitty. He seems like a pretty good guy. I'd also like to say that in addition to the shitty people that he was next to. There were probably 40,000 decent people there that night that are associated with our sport. And of those 40,000, many, like me, Malcolm is one of our favorite riders too!

I don't understand the concept of tying this to the sport. Racist crap happens anywhere at any time. It doesn't need a specific time and place, or special conditions. I had it happen at work one day, and another time just stopping to use a pay phone, back when we had public pay phones. I never thought about tying it to the 7/11 or the payphone company, or the apartment complex.
The first time I got to walk away clean. The second time everyone was at arms length and a bystander lost his life. If you have ever been attacked by people of a different race, because you are a different race, it is really hard to not view that race as dangerous, and just view them as fellow humans.I understand what this guy is experiencing, took me decades to get over it. To this day, I never let anyone stand in my blind spot.
I don't think his point was that it's tied to the sport. I think his point was, that's what he has to deal with in his life. That incident just happened to be at SX but could have been anywhere. Shitty people walk among us all over.

There's been George Floyd discussion on this very message board that has gone down pretty similar to what he describes.
I’ll take things that never happened for $200, Alex.
Well, Floyd was a dirt bag, so there's that, but the dildos that did that to the guy could use a good tune up.
George floyd was a dirtbag, he probably should have been in prison, but there would have been no question about what killed him if the cop hadn't kneeled on him for 10 minutes.
I don't think those dildos were talking about George floyd.
Yeah, I can't think for them.
They were clearly dildos, and could use a good fixing.
I bummed that he groups us all together, that's sad, because I would venture a guess that the majority of the white population isn't like that at all.
I was tempted to respond to his IG, but I don't know how to make it sound right.
The whole "I have a black friend" thing gets disregarded immediately. My manager is black, my work mate is black, and aside from giving DeCarlo shit about his Nashville dialect, race has never even been a topic.
I don't know, I think the left controlled media has a lot to do with what racism is left.
Ol' sogg trying to bring everyone here down into his doom and gloom miserymongering.
Exactly.
If you scrounge deep enough, you can always find what they want you looking for.
I'm wondering if the guy might have a Smollett somewhere in his family tree.
Seems likely that George Floyd was being used as a stand in for another word.
It sucks that we can't ever see something bad happen and everyone just say that's bad, don't do that.
SeeMeFirst.
I’ve had people make comments and, in response showed them pictures of when I had friends over, swimming with me as a kid. Yes they were black. The same friends I took salmon fishing last year.
The ignorance of their response. So, those friends are tokens? Tokens? What would a fucking 10 year old know about having token friends? No, they’re not only people I consider friends but, also family. That experience proved ignorance and, opinions were pre determined. That person was immediately cut off and, now I’m a racist 😂
Fucking idiot.
I just mind my own business and, only concern myself with people in my circle. Everyone else can fuck right off.
Pit Row
Remember at Red Bud and fans were giving Marv the middle finger and yelled god knows what at him as he went out to the crowd to spray champagne with the rest of the podium...
He lived
So the basis is ‘well you survived’?
Sal wasn’t a public facing figure in this situation he was an innocent person in the crowd and was singled out because of the color of his skin.
True...ya got me on that.
.
What sorry bitch would downvote that?
