The Privateer is ready to load up for Houston

I showed you guys Adam Gulley getting the bike ready for Houston. It looks like he's got it together, got the new stickers on, and has it ready to load up and haul to Houston. Good thing the snow quit this afternoon after another 5-6", though with temps 5 below tonight I'd leave the bike indoors until tomorrow after it gets up to 25 degrees and sunny.

Double Vision Racing is Adam and Aaron Gulley, AMA Pro's only racing twins. Aaron won't be racing at Houston this weekend because the cast is just coming off his wrist tomorrow from surgery for a non-healing fracture a year ago. Their racing operation is a family operation. Father Dale owns a flooring company and the boys now work for him installing floors. They grew up racing in D18 and in the Missouri State MX Series and have won multiple championships there. They've been to Loretta's and Ponca, but the real breakthroughs have come in the last couple of years, with championships won at the Arizona Amateur National Erv Braun puts on, and this year at the Branson MX. They've been doing AMA Nationals and Supercross the last few years. Last year Adam was fairly consistently making the night show in Lites East. This year as a warmup for supercross Adam ran the AMA Arenacross Lites East races, winning the first three races and finishing third in the second half of the Toledo doubleheader after a bad start. He has a commanding lead over Patrick Massie there, though that will probably evaporate as Adam heads to Houston and the SX Lites east and the AX heads to Paducah this weekend.

The Double Vison Racing team is self-funded. They do receive sponsorship help from companies like mine, SourceMX Graphics, along with J&W Cycles, TUF Performance Products, Factory Connection, Yoshimura, Dunlop, Fly, UFO, Shades of Gray Helmet Painting, Amsoil, Hinson, and Scott. But it's a passion for the sport that drives them to sacrifice to get there without the luxury of a wealthy family, big income or paying sponsors. They cannot afford to leave the snowy environs of Missouri to train in Texas or at GPF or any of the other places many amateur kids around here go. I'd venture to guess, given the weather, that the arenacrosses have been the only practice time the last month and a half Adam's had on a new suspension and motor he just got the day before the first arenacross. But he's still out there winning races and getting better, and we hope to see him making the cut at every supercross this year.

By the way, the Gulleys aren't the only Missouri-D18 racers who will be trying the SX Lites East. There will also be Jason Hussey #677, Kyle Hussey #675, Mason Glorioso #611, Tanner Moore #384, Tyler McEwen #225, and Carey Willett #638. All are sponsored by SourceMX Graphics. We also have Justin Freund, who's out with an arm he broke while training about a month ago, and we did have Hunter Clements, though we released him from his contract so he could join the Privateer Journey Team.

Wishing good luck to Double Vision Racing team for 2011

We sponsor Tyler. Have one of the Gulley's look for me at Atlanta.

MX has some solid roots in MO. MXP is a really nice place.
