Show up here in HI at a store with disposable plastic bags and you'll get some serious bad vibes. It's really the problem of shitty people that don't properly dispose of trash and they end up in the ocean. Among many other reasons, they float around looking like jellies, other fish see them as food and get all fucked up from them, or even just tangled up in them. Last time out scuba diving a turtle came up to me tangled up in fishing line wanting help but I had no knife. Felt so bad for him but if I tried to bring him back and he got away he'd never trust another diver to help him.

In Oregon we had go to plastic until this current crop of trees grew big enough to cut down and now we’re back to paper bags for awhile. 😀
