Original new 1973-74 Honda CR250M downpipe. I've seen them sell quite often for $2000.00- $2200.00 with a high of $2750.00. Be interesting to see what effect the recession has on one of these.

I would love to have that for my CR250M, but the last new one went for $2500. The one I have is very good, but it is not new. I had that on my watch list.

That's just absurd, I can't beleive an idiot would pay that much for a pipe for an old bike when they could buy a 2005 and up BIKE for that.

Well, I do know a rather successful individual who's purchased about six of those new pipes and the equally as expensive NOS fuel tanks to go with them. Plus every other NOS part available to pristinely restore that many 73-74 CR250M's. Art takes many forms. I wouldn't call him an idiot, he's a lot more well off than I......

Okay maybe idiot was a little harsh. I'm all for the vintage thing and respect were the sport came from, I just don't see a 3k dollar pipe there.

If it makes you feel any better, neither do I!

I've always been a freak for anything 1974-75 CR125M. When I put my first vintage racer together back in 91 (75 CR125), it had an aftermarket pipe on it and regardless of what I did it wouldn't run worth a shit below about 50,000 rpms. One day I found a brand new 75 CR125 Honda pipe hanging in the rafters of the salvage yard and scored it for $25.00. Decided to "try" it on the racebike to see if it made a difference. Made all the difference in the world, the bike ripped with great mid and up power. Within a year that new pipe was smashed all to shit! Those will currently fetch $600.00-$900.00. I bought brand new front number plate kits through Honda for all my race bikes for about $15.00 and ran them. They would fetch $300.00 and up today. Almost bought a new 74 CR250 tank back in 1992. There were eight showing in the system at the time, but for $350.00 I just couldn't justify the cost...LOL. Those will always fetch $2500.00-$3500.00 these days. It's rediculous, and has taken a lot of the fun out of the vintage gig. But when you do stumble across a deal these days, you get sucked right back in all over again.

I'd love to have those for my youngest kids 79 CR125 I'm building right now but I haven't decided on a swingarm. Thinking I want Karl to build me a Mugen arm for it and that would require a shorter shock.

Looks like the snipers are hunkered down. 20 minutes to go, still at $910.00.

I have to say, if we're going to allow loud four strokes, we should allow unsilenced two strokes. Naked stingers just look so right.

32 waist......I remember those days! Must be the hormones in the chicken. Damn chickens.

I could reproduce those pipes exactly... But it would be very expensive.

Those are what are called 3d stampings. You can tell by weld line not being on one plane.

Not my cup of tea, but I can imagine someone spending weeks, months, even years restoring the bike of their dreams and only lacking one major piece to finally finish the puzzle. Putting myself in those shoes, if that one item popped up on ebay I could see myself spending unreasonable amounts of money.

What about the guy's that spend 50 grand on an old mustang that sold for about 3 grand when it was new? I can't afford to collect expensive cars so I'm into old vintage bikes. Some guy's can afford expensive NOS stuff. Others like me have to work to find stuff and fix it up. Kinda like the pickers show which is part of the fun. Heck some A holes started collecting stuff 15 years ago and hoarded everything (I won't mention names I'll just call him MR. NOS)

Anyhow some guys collect coins, some baseball cards, some jerseys and some vintage bikes although it's harder to hang a bike the wall, although I have seen it done.

I'm betting the first one would be real f'n expensive and possibly require destroying a pristine original for the stamping dies?????

That's a 3d stamping. Only oem guys make those (cnc cut dies)

Cost of a single one off stamping, no less than $50k
