Both Short and Alessi looked much spunkier this week than in previous races.

Damn it Terry, why did you have to introduce facts into this?

I'm as big of a Shorty nut hugger as the next guy... He's awesome for the sport. Unfortunately, he was barely a top 3 guy last year. With Canard moving up and everyone being healthy he's barely a top 6 guy.

PS: If Weimer, Hill, and Pourcel were in, he'd be barely top 10.

PPS: In San Diego last year (5th round) he had the 7th fastest lap behind RV2, JH75, IT9, DM18, and KW14.
In A2 this year (5th round) he had the 10th fastest lap behind JS7, RV2, CR22, TC41, JB10, BM24, KC11, KW14, and RD1... Four guys in bold din't race in SD last year... He's almost in the same place.

AC would qualify less than 800...

And the 350 thing is as old as the"where's jlaw/hepler/I love 2 strokes" threads. We get it... The people on the 350 did better on 450s under different tents. Ktm isn't going to pull out a 350 anytime soon and here's why...

In some ways, the old saying, what wins on Sunday(or does descent anymore) sells on Monday. Now hear me out, even though this isn't a new discovery... So Ktm tries out the 350 and the best they can get is some top 10s from short, and alessi to make mains. Then, hypethetically, they try the 450... Magically short is top 5 or podium and alessi is fighting for top 10s. That'll make the 350 look stupid and Ktm look stupid for trying it.

Now that is not to say that the 350 could pull some good results under the right circumstances: lites rider just moving up? Hear me Hansen?) due to they are usually within a second from the top 450 guys, a good start that could come from great pick and reaction time, a slick track making the extra horse power almost useless(although the extra torque helps the rear wheel stick) as well as a host of other possibilities and that thing could be really good.

However, were talking small horse power machines so giving up 100cc's is huge. Lighter rotating mass and overall bike, doesn't make up for that loss in horsepower. Ktm is bringing a knife to a gun fight... Or at very least a knife to a sword fight.
bit like taking a 250f into a des nations race in the outdoors and expecting it to beat the 450's with all that extra horse power then, can be done has been done and no doubt with the right rider on board the 350 would do it oh no it has all ready in the world champs

Whatever Fish - Look back at the beginning of the 2010 Supercross season -- Through the first five events, Shorty never finished worst than 5th in the mains and even had at least one heat win. Until he fell late in the race at San Diego, while in second place and on the 18th lap, I might add, he was totally competitive and in the hunt. True his results fell off after he got hurt in that fall, but you can't say that he shouldn't be riding at a higher level! 2+2=4. Bears ass.
