My old man raced in Cali back in the day on a DKW 125, sponsored by a guy from Pebble Beach that restored Rolls Royce and Bentleys who liked to dabble in moto as well.
Here's a pic of him is at one of the Laguna Seca tracks (in his words on a lesser quality of the 3 tracks they had out there).
My question is: does anybody have a close-up of this jersey design? His birthday/fathers day are very close to each other and I'd like to recreate this thru my buddy's t-shirt shop for him. He's still an avid mountain biker and I want to make him some old school moto style jerseys that he can wear riding but also around the house and stuff.
Hoping he doesn't see this since he's a lurker on here occasionally. Dad if you see this just feign ignorance 😄

Tough one to ID though, my best guess would be maybe an early wheelsmith jersey ?

Thank you for the lead! And yep, leading link! He said that it was fun but terrifying. Apparently DeCoster yarded himself on a leading link and that contributed to the shelving of the design (paraphrasing stories of my dad). I need to get my hands on his old photo albums, he has a plethora of old late 60's Cali pictures, especially from the old Hangtown location.
I seem to remember him saying that it was an official DKW jersey so maybe that'll narrow it down. I'm hoping I'll come across another pic of someone wearing one.
I don’t doubt him, your dad’s gear was top notch for the era. Awesome you get those stories with the pics.
Being a nor cal guy with a dad who rode during that era I love seeing and reading about them.

Thank again for the leads on this. I love hearing stories from that era. He spent a lot of time on track with Billy Grossi, Marty Smith, Bruce McDougall, and a lot of other awesome riders. Gave me an appreciation for where the sport came from. Those dudes were some gnarly sob's.
