Thanks Brotherman. My mom passed away 3.5 years ago from a massive stroke . But Dad is still with us, he’s 89, still driving and works out 6 days a week at Golds Gym, which he’s been a member of for over 25 years. He doesn’t run much anymore, but he’s run in marathons all over the country, back in the day. He stopped riding his motorcycle last year. He had his cable shut off awhile ago because he didn’t like how much it cost, and every now and then he slips up and tells my sister that he went up on the roof to adjust his antenna that’s mounted on the chimney…… Several years ago when my mom was still with us , we found out that on a couple of occasions that he went out into the garage and somehow managed to pull out a couple of his teeth that were bothering him…..That’s my dad…..😂
Roof top units/hydronics. Heating and, cooling. I’ll post more as the project evolves. Trying to configure the lines was a pain in the ass. The units didn’t match the existing piping so, there’s a lot of thinking and, lines intersecting involved. Starting the boiler next week.

This line will make 4, 6, 8, and 10" corrugated PVC pipe. We also have injection molding machines that make different adapters, wyes, tees, reducers, etc. Then a fab department that cuts/glues together different combinations of fittings.

My morning...
Just working on a hot ass roof. It radiates so much heat. It suck’s. I was cussing up a storm. I swear they schedule like this on purpose. When it’s cold and, rainy I’m outside. When it’s hot as hell, I’m on a roof. When the weather is just right, I’m inside the building. I shouldn’t be complaining but, God damn I’m melting working on that mo-fo.
Steal an E-Z up from Washougal.
Just be glad you ain't here. Probably a buck forty or better on a dark roof.

One place I worked packaged cooking oil, one big machine we had was a giant combination machine, blow mold, filler, and capper. Little plastic test tubes went in, got heated, passed into a blow mold where they took the shape of the bottle you see on the shelf, passed into a filler section where it was filled with oil (I believe they were half gallon bottles), then passed to the final section where caps were spun on. I want to say it was capable of 600 bottles per minute, but our running speed was 260 bottles per minute. It was cool as hell to watch run, 3 rotary sections and the total enclosure was as big as a small house.
Those only run scrub, they're designed for thicker viscosity materials. We have 2 scrub lines.
Our other lines run shampoos, lotions and body wash type stuff, and they are more like what Davis was describing minus the blow molder.
Davis, I spent 11 years at a Coke plant bottling water. We had 3 lines. 2 of them ran at 1,200 CPM, and 1 was a Combi. Couldn't even see what was going on it was so fast, and when they crashed.... It was expensive.
20 stations on the blow molder, 120 on the filler. Impressive machines.
I love that stuff. Worked at several industrial plants. One of the coolest was a place that made ice cream and ice cream novelty’s. The electrical company I worked for would send me there when they got a new machines or just electrical maintenance. Also worked at coffee roasters, dairy companies, several lumber mills, Safeway grocery where they made all kinds of dairy products as well as their pop/soda products. Very cool to see how things people don’t really think about something as simple a wrapper or a label on a product. The engineering was amazing.
I used to like to watch a show called "How it's made", but all too often I knew how it was made, and they'd skip some really important step, likely for time constraints and people's ability to understand.
It was like, they do A, then B. Then a miracle happens, and here they are at z. Hahahaha!

Oh that looks fun 😂 Nothing beats carrying tons of shit up flights of stairs and or ladders, trying to keep your tools out of the sun so you can actually touch them, and then walking around on ball bearings all day hahaha. How many times you cuss out whoever thought that’s a good design for a roof hahaha. At least you don’t have to heat the fittings long when it’s hot as fucking balls haha. I’m having solar install flashbacks. Looks good 👍
Man…. Those damn rocks suck!! I can’t count how many times I’ve almost eaten shit because of them rolling under my feet while walking across it. It’s also four stories. Five counting the roof. All our material is packed up a stairwell. The only thing flown up to the roof by crane were the four roof top units and the boiler.
Thankfully, there’s a room on the roof we can keep all our tools in while working on this project. It’s not a bad job itself. It’s just all the little inconveniences that add up and, make me pissed. Top off the working conditions with shitty prints…. Yeah, I’ll be down in California in April for some riding and relaxation. I’m already planning ten months out 😂 Fuck plumbing 😂
Hey I know ! “Let’s make a flat roof, and then put rocks all over it” “We don’t want the water to actually run off the dumb thing, lets try and hold it there as long as possible” I’m sure there’s some reason for a roof like that, I’d love to know what it is because to me it seems like the dumbest fucking design in the history of buildings with roofs. My favorite are the ones that have sharp rocks over tar paper so there’s no way to walk on the roof without making holes.
Even better! Let’s make sure the membrane under all those fuckin rocks is black. Let’s make sure the temperature radiating is at least 25 degrees higher than ambient air. For laughs we’ll have the previous installer fuck everything up. Not label all the damn lines. Fuck the next guy. He’ll figure it out!
Let’s also make sure they don’t start until 7 so the stairwells in the hotel are packed full of customers coming down for breakfast at 6-9 while they’re packing material up the stairs. Those dumb fuck plumbers!! 😂
LOL, I was in Malaysia helping set up a Gatorade plant. They had something like a 64 head rotary bottle filler the company rep could not figure out. It just so happened that their machine used many of the same components as mine and I was able to get their filler up and running. (30ish years ago)

We always had to pipe, insulate and jacket. I swear the jacketing was the biggest pain in the ass to make everything look decent.

Thankfully, we sub out the insulation and, jacketing. I’ve done plenty of insulation. Both foam and, fiberglass but, it’s typically on interior piping. This stuff, it’s best to leave to the pro’s.
It’s what allows me to enjoy all those months off. At least that’s what I keep telling myself lol.
9 on, 3 off is pretty typical. I’m usually burned out and, looking forward to my time off anyways. This roof was brutal. Everything you see was packed up a stairwell.
