Just one of many that have bailed on the Pacific coast states.

Add to that the smaller businesses that have shut down.

And you keep hearing about neighborhood drug stores etc... closing their doors due to constant retail theft.

(That's not just a west coast story either)

Think about the jobs that eliminates, the tax base as well.

Not to mention, as far as neighborhood stores are concerned, the pain in the ass it becomes for the people who rely on those businesses.

People are moving here (southern red states) in droves. Problem is, ridge tops are being clear cut, leveled off for mass produced boxes for all of the influx to live in.

And most of our cities are now finding themselves with liberal mayors.

It's like a damn rash.

Lived in Washington State all but 3 months of my life. It’s a beautiful state, but the cost of living is very high in comparison. Dems have had control of this state for far too long. This new Seattle mayor is clueless. I’m glad at least that I don’t live in Seattle. It’s a mess.

Swap out Washington with California…

Swap out Seattle with Los Angeles…

I am shocked to hear such news. Who in their right mind could have ever predicted something like that. Aren't people supposed to want to pay taxes? And help other people by just opening their wallet to anyone on the street who wants it? Even supplying drug paraphernalia to those less fortunate that need drugs just to deal with the daily life of being used and abused by those who actually have money. The mystery of it all, I just can't wrap my head around why people and companies would leave. They must have no compassion. Yeah, that's it, no compassion. I'll have venti latte please. I really need to sit and think this through.

Just add Washington’s nine months of rain. Cold shitty beaches. Yeah, cold during the summer.

I remember my first experience with beaches in the PNW as a kid while visiting my mom. The church she was attending had a trip planned to the beach. I was like, oh hell yeah. Count me in!

I show up at the church parking lot with a tank top, shorts, flip flops, sun glasses and, a boogie board. Everyone is wearing pants and, tee shirts but, has hoodies in bags. We finally get to the “beach” and, it’s windy, cloudy and, cold AF. I froze my ass off. All the girls were like, aren’t you going in the water? To not look like a pussy, I was like, yep. Grab my board, paddle out and, I’m out there, shivering my balls off. Just miserable. I’ve never been so cold in my life. Paddle back in after about forty five minutes, dry off and, the one girl goes, you know your lips are blue?

I had $35 I brought with me. There was a souvenir shop. Thinking I’ll just buy a $15 sweat shirt, I ran over to it. They didn’t have sweat shirts. They had $30 hoodies. I was left with two dollars to buy lunch which, was just a can of soda. I went from cold, to broke and, starving.

I went back home and, my mom asked, did you have fun.
NO!!!!!!!!

Not sure why your post reminded me of this story. Maybe the comparison of California to, Washington… Either way, the beaches here don’t hold a candle to So Cal beaches.

The things only life teaches you. Too bad we have to learn all these things by actually doing it and suffering. But oh the memories. What's the old saying? A good story never started with "we were eating a salad and then..."

Meh, Blimp Boy Pritzker just lost Morton Salt Co.  Been outside Chicago for 176 years.  Bigger company than you think as well. Dem tactics losing everywhere

And dont forget that we have the highest minimum wage which makes it tough on restaurants.

Power utilities are raising rates to abide by the clean energy bill our previous governor signed

Ours was the last state to get rid of covid restrictions

And damn, how did I forget that the we podium for having the highest gas price in the nation.

I can't remember but I think either they did or wanted to ban gas appliances in new construction

Agree!!
Ocean Shores, Newport, Seaside, Astoria. All suck.

Aberdeen. That place never recovered after after logging shut down and the mills closed. Pretty easy to see driving through it.

Well, if enough rich folk leave, property values will drop and you can buy a house there. Winning!

There is nothing there!!!! Shilo Inn is probably still missing floor tiles in the lobby from last year 😂

Only thing decent in that area is the Humptulips River when the salmon are in by the hatchery. Or, the jetty at the end of the main road for perch fishing,

This was taken last August!!

I don't mind stealing bread from the mouth of decadents.

But, I can't feed on the powerless when my cups already overfilled.

It’s all guys like me ,my family and friends have ever known for the most part. This week , Monday and Tuesday were beautiful weather near 80’s. Yesterday, High 50’s low 60’s and raining on and off the whole time , pouring for a while.Wet this morning and yesterday I went for my daily walk in the rain. It’s what we do here.🤪 It is green up here though and we don’t have water issues, like running out.😂

Having spent a decent amount of time on Whidbey Island the last couple years at my daughters place in Oak Harbor, I can confirm it is absolutely amazing up there once in a while. 😆

It doesn't get too hot on the west side of the state, stays green with just the right amount of rain. It is pleasant to sit outside.

I've done some business trips there over the years and yes, it can be amazing. The ratio of amazing to "not so" amazing makes it "an amazing place to visit, but not to live" I much rather prefer warm to cold. I much rather enjoy the view of the better half of our species in bikinis vs trench coats. 😁
