Thank you all so much for the kind messages. I’ve been so lost I couldn’t even cry, until I read through this.

She is still intubated but opened her eyes briefly when the nurse put the suction hose in her mouth as if to say, WTF are you doing!?!
She also kicks both her legs and push with her left arm (her right arm isn’t completely paralysed but she can’t really move it) any time they disturb her from her sleep😌.

They had to put a special glove on her as she was trying to pull all the hoses out of her mouth too.

Thank you all again for the thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. It truely has given me more strength and I know it is doing the same for her.💪😌❤️

Those are all really good signs. Especially trying to pull those hoses out. 💯👍🏻

The doctors made her do some tests and even though she’s still sedated, she did amazing! Opened her eyes a few times too. Thank you so much everyone.💪😌❤️

Hi guys. Mum still has the breathing tube in but they’re going to try and remove it today. She was pretty responsive yesterday and reached for my hand and gave it a nice long squeeze.

My sister and I were talking to her and it looked like she was trying to speak. She was looking at us and when the monitor started beeping she looked over at them. She’s still sleeping a lot but the times that she’s awake she seems to be wondering what’s going on.

I had a couple of breakdowns yesterday but I’m trying to hold it together as much as I can. It sucks to see a fit, healthy, and active woman laying there like she is.

I’ve been praying everyday and know she will get through this with time.💪😌❤️

You're a good man for being there for your mom!

You and your sister, lean on each other for support but be patient and understanding of each other.  The both of you are dealing with a lot of emotions.

UPDATE: Mum, although still slightly sedated, was far more alert and responsive yesterday!  She was nodding and shaking her head when we asked her a few things and even laughed/smiled when I cracked a little bit of a joke😃.

They were going to try and remove the breathing hose while we were there and I was telling her that all she had to do was breathe on her own and that would be a huge victory.
Well, they came to talk to us about things before sending us out for 15 minutes to get it done not knowing how it would go. We went back in and as the doors to ICU opened, the nurse was standing there like an angle and said “Tubes out and she’s doing great”.

The relief and happiness was immense and she’s showing  just how hard she’s fighting to get better. She was far more agitated than before they took the tube out but she was clearly in a lot of pain in her throat so that’s understandable.

I know she’s gotten a lot of strength from everyone praying for her and wishing her to get better, and for that I’m grateful; Thank you all so much.

There’s still a long road ahead but with the small improvements she’s showing each day, I know she will get through this.💪😌❤️

So cool!

Good on ya for being light hearted and trying to keep the mood positive.  Im a firm believer that it goes a long way to letting the health care team know you are behind them.

Go mom!

Thanks guys. Can’t wait to tell her Kenny won the title today! He’s her favourite rider and she loves his posts with Courtney and the boys.
I knew yesterday was going to be special when I saw that Larry Brooks had made his recovery. I was telling her to fight like Kenny and Larry.💪😌❤️

Positive thoughts, wishes, anything for my mum Roseline.

She had a stroke yesterday a bit before 3:00pm and is still currently intubated in ICU.

She’s the strongest person I know and even after my dad and my brother passed away never stopped charging.

I love you mum.💪😔❤️

My wife had a major stroke when we were dating.  My advice to you is that your mom is going to need you to be strong, so get your rest and be there because that's what she needs most. You can do it, brother.  When it feels like you're running out of steam you need to push through, that's what she would do for you.  You also need to take the time to take care of yourself, get some sleep, eat, find time for your thoughts.  Nothing but my absolute best wishes for you both in this incredibly tough and unfair time.

Thank you for the kind words, thoughts, and encouragement peely. All noted and very much appreciated.

She slept most of the visit today but with the tube being removed yesterday afternoon, it was a big effort for her body, so I understand she needed the rest.

Thank you everyone for the support, it really means so much to us.💪😌❤️

No real advice other than to be strong and supportive for you mum, and above all, patient. Recovery from stroke takes a long time. My father had one due to excessive plaque buildup in the arteries supplying the brain. He was fortunate, and had no lasting physical deficits. He did have some cognitive problems though...he was all there...it just took him a bit longer to process thoughts than prior to the stroke.

One of the biggest factors in his recovery was that he had gotten into a research program with one of our large medical groups. Their protocol helped him immensely, and he ended up not having another stroke before he passed, which was 8 years post stroke. Thing is, the treatment protocol changes based on the cause of the stroke.

At any rate, we're praying for a speedy and complete recovery for your mum!

Update: My sister called the hospital this morning as she has done every morning and they said mum had a really good night and is much more alert! They said she’s ready to leave ICU today but will still be monitored very closely.

Can’t wait to go and see her.💪😌❤️

I’m so grateful for all the encouragement you guys have given us, it means a lot. Thank you so much.

Update: Mum was moved into the stroke/neurology ward this evening. As awesome as the nurses in ICU have been over the last week, there is a lot going on in there as expected and It’s nice that she’s in a calmer environment (the lights, noise, and constant movement would be overwhelming I imagine).

She was immediately more relaxed and seemed to really enjoy the trip from ICU to her new ward.

It was a really good day.

Thanks again everyone.💪😌❤️

UPDATE: They got mum to sit up (she still had to be supported) and do a little bit of “physio” which she was able to do! She’s slowly regaing slight movement in her right foot and hand, and is responding better and better to their instructions but they said she’s still drowsy and exhausted from the week in ICU.

I showed her Roczen being interviewed on my phone and she didn’t take her eyes off the screen… I also said I don’t think my sister liked my cooking and she smiled/laughed. They’re slowly trying to feed her as her ability to swallow is getting better too.

She’s trying to speak more and more and making small (big to me) improvements everyday so I’m stoked.

It’s a much more relaxed environment and I know this will help a lot… And as in ICU, the nurses are amazing.

I’m heading back up later this afternoon as they try to encourage some “calm time” for the patients from 1:00 to 3:00 but obviously wouldn’t kick you out.The hospital is 15 minutes max depending on traffic so that’s not a problem.

Thanks again everyone.💪😌❤️And my mum’s signature emoji: 💃

It's awesome that your Mom is into moto/SX racing.

We grew up in the heyday of the Can-Am, Trans-Am, F-5000 days.

Never missed a race at Riverside, Seca, the old Stardust GP's.

So it was easy to get my Mom interested in motoGP during the, Doohan/Biagi era, and on into the Rossi/Gibernau era.

I'm sure everyone here is hoping she'll be on her couch soon for the upcoming outdoor season.

Ezza, so happy to hear recovery is going well. One thing, talk to the nurses/doctors ask them a lot of questions. (significant questions) IF they get the sense you are very interested/involved you will get better monitoring of your mom.

Can confirm.

I experience this with my mom. If I am asking questions, communicating with the doctors/nurses I tend to notice they will go above and beyond. I ferry mom to all her doctor appointments and deal with the nurses at the assisted care facility she lives at and the nurses/doctors we encounter are just wonderful and so key to keeping mom content as can be.

Love your positive attitude Ezza and even keeping the mood as light hearted as possible cracking a funny or two.
