04 KX125 swingarm alternative's?

An 04 KX250F has the same linkage design at least. The smoker 250 of this gen is as rare as the 125 and ppl are proud of these parts when available. To the point where it would be cheaper even if alternate pivot bolt and axle needed adaptations. Also, I need the shock knuckle link and bolt.

I don't think that it would be all that different at the pivot dimensions. Shoot, I was curious and a 17 YZ250F unit laying around was only 1mm wider at each pivot. So shaving pivots .5 mm off each side should be a do-able thing.

Appreciate any input.

Check out the 04-05 KX250F/RMZ250?  They blew up a lot and there are bunch of parts on eBay.

Confirmed fit then?

I guess pivot spacer part and swingarm bolt numbers would confirm it.

I do see a $60 04 KX250F swingarm. That's hundreds below the smoker units.

I've rolled the dice on an 04 KX 250F swingarm and 05 RMZ shock link. $110!

The design looks the exact same, where as after 06 the design is obviously different.

The KX250 swingarms are a rare commodity.

Fingers crossed

iirc, the widths of the linkage are different and the chain roller is different. If you study the parts diagrams they list the pin and bearing sizes.  Last time I looked into that was 10-12 years ago.  Whats wrong with the original arm?  They can usually be repaired.

The swingarm with its shock link was at a machinist shop for repair and the dang place burnt down from a transformer fire. If it is wrong at the pivot, I will hit the guy up for trimming things down. The 125 shock clevis fits the 05 shock link just received. Appreciate your input.

The swingarm is an exact fit. Winning

If not the same shock link geo, with a suspension servicing, I'll get the correct shim stack done for this 05 linkage, if necessary..

You dont adjust geometry with shims.

I see. I thought the shim stack spec could compensate for the links rising rate, to a limited degree.

You can change the shock damping characteristic to match the new linkage, assuming it's in the same ballpark as the original linkage.

Glad it worked out.

Looking like a super cheap matching 250f shock is the move. Includes a needed stiffer spring and get my go-to mech servicing.
