If there's one thing I love more than public national forest land, it's Chilean mining companies. I'm all for this!

I’d be pretty surprised if this goes through in MN. There’s a huge push in the central Black Hills of SD for lithium. Knowing SD I’m sure that won’t have a problem kicking off.

I was just reading about this. I'm so glad our government has the time to sell out our protected lands to a foreign mining company.

America First!! YAY!!

They and their rich buddies go and buy the land around cool areas and cut off access to them. Then they treat them like their own little playground while they ruin what we have left.  Can’t hate the cock suckers enough.

There isn't a "huge push"- there isn't a cost-effective way to mine that mineral right now in the US because lithium is produced so cheaply in China and other countries who don't care about the environment.

But, then again, I wouldn't expect a dipshit from western Minnesota like you to understand anything happening in the Black Hills.

There’s plenty of articles about a lithium rush in the Black Hills. Google too hard for you to use? You arrogant dorks that think eastern SD is MN need to put the pipe down. Maybe you should summit Harney and take a leap ya fuckin prick.

There is no Harney, dumbass. It's called Black Elk Peak.

It's way more arrogant to try to tell folks from the Black Hills how to run their business when you don't even know what the names of the mountains are here.

If you bring that Google search up again, you'll find most of those articles are from a couple of years ago. The companies doing exploratory drilling got their permits from the Biden administration, and they are many years away from applying for any mining permits.

Telling people how to run their business? Press that Life Alert. You’ve fallen and hit your head again. There’s still plenty going on and you just need something to be an asshole about. Maybe next instead of having beers with Kristi you could get in on one of Brian’s bimbobication deals. Have a day pal.

Excellent job avoiding the point. I would never think to tell you how to raise hogs or whatever the fuck you guys do over there, it doesn't concern me.

And you can go ahead and keep Kristy and Brian east river, we don't need any of you guys over here.

Wasn’t very long ago when China restricted some rare earth metals to the USA. That was 2025. There’s 250k acres in the Hills under active federal mining claims and can be mined at almost any time. That’s from a Kota article in January of this year. I initially did say “lithium” but how’s it going for the residents of Piedmont? Fancy how there was legislation to put some restrictions on the mining but it all got shut down. A lot of these rare earth minerals are classified the same as sand and gravel. Which is a bit wild being the extraction process for a lot of those minerals requires chemicals.

You Jewish or Muslim? What’s wrong with pork? I don’t know why you’re acting so fucking high and mighty. Pardon me for being concerned about mining potentially ruining one my favorite places in this country and possibly affecting some people that live out there that I love greatly. Again, have a day. Living in eastern SD I’ve got something to be pissed about - the riding here sucks. You live in an off-road paradise. Go ride some singletrack and be happy.

Funny thing I’m reminded of…

Where’s 3M from?

What the meaning of 3M?

It’s a funny world, sometimes.

Those 250,000 acres with "active" mining claims can't be mined at almost any time (and most of those 250k acres are claims for quarries). Any claim that requires use of equipment beyond a hand shovel or sluice box requires a federal permit. Those are not just handed out, and any operation beyond a couple of acres requires posting of bonds worth enough money to pay for cleanup and reclamation. We don't live in 1960 anymore.

There is no rare earth mining in the state of South Dakota, if KOTA says there is, they know as much about it as you do. The extraction of any mineral or element requires chemicals, just like your hog farming requires chemicals. I trust that you hog farmers are safe with your chemicals and try to raise those pigs as environmentally responsibly as possible, even though I wouldn't be able to tell if you weren't.

I ride single track every week and am happy as a clam, except when some asshole from east of Chamberlain dumps the empties from their SxS at the trailhead.

EDIT: P.S.- Me asking you to educate yourself before you start spouting nonsense isn't "acting high and mighty."

Hey as long as that Chilean mining company can produce some shareholder value at the expense of americans I am all for it.  This is exactly what I voted for.

Hey, thanks for informing me. I'm not too proud to admit that I didn't know any of what you just posted. I will take what you stated and adjust my doom and gloom outlook on the health of the Black Hills. Wasn't that long ago when we were on some single track and all of a sudden it got dozed and turned into a new sxs route.

This could have gone differently if you didn't immediately call me a dipshit.

I'm not a hog farmer nor do I know jack shit about it. I pressure washed hog buildings as a kid for some skratch once in awhile. I've had a truck repair shop for 20 years now.

I'm also not the east river sxs asshole littering on the trail. I've enjoyed countless weekends riding skinnies out of Nemo. It's possible we know a handful of the same guys.

If Antofagasta models their work like 3M, the lawsuits shouldn't take long to start flying in.

Canoes and fishing poles..

Drank the water straight out of the lake

Fresh caught Fried fish galore...

When this is being tampered with it does concern me.

( and the fact its a Chiline venture to be sold to China )

Chicago's parking meters / revenue has been sold off for 99 years to abu duabi &nbspWink

But here its rape our land for the profit of Two foreign  countries...

I'll take your Minnesota trip, and raise you an ontario trip.

We did it twice and both times we were 25 miles from the nearest light bulb.

Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes, but it has nothing against Ontario.
