That's a trip.

Don't recall the bodies outside the rear wheels like that.

Yeah,   yung-money is no doubt a phenom and the best sprint driver out there right now.  But my attention goes to people like McKenna.  Shes an incredible human being, gives countless hours to kids who wanna race,  is a woman of faith and integrity and earned her right to be called a wheel man.  Err,  lady.    She honestly is a breath of fresh air in an age of spoiled brat racers who have zero character.

And she is 100% right,  that shit is "Bad fast,  wicked fast."    You cannot just line up and dink around,  its GO time when the light turns green and everyone is coming and they have the stirrup on the pan.   There is no 'C' class to learn in.

Even Pastrana will tell you,  its not like it looks from the grandstand.

Interesting conversation going on this week about who is statistically the “best” current Sprint Car driver and all signs point to David Gravel at the moment.

They haven't updated the "results" tab in years.  But on their home page, if you scroll down a bit there are links to the results:

Hes really good for sure,  but in terms of pure talent,  IMHO Larson has all of them beat.    (and I dont like the kid at all TBH)

But hey,  your mileage may vary and whos to say anyway.

Transmission took a shit, when I pulled off it wouldn’t come out of gear and was super hot and was feeling clunky the whole heat and jerking me around, we got the car from a guy that’s notorious for breaking so I guess we inherited some of those gremlins, good news is I got a new ish rear end from the guy that lent me the engine (Jon Dewees) so we will be back on the 9th of may or whenever that Saturday close to that is. No more breaking parts unless I wreck the thing knock on wood. Super frustrating I just get to dip the tip in each race first with the steering going out, the. The big kaboom and now the rear end. Getting my feet wet though and feel like I will be on pace for the next one, I’ll be posting my GoPros but this last weekend I recorded in 4k on accident and can’t get them into my video editor

Transmission?  I guess you mean the in/out lever section or the backside with the two gears?

In any event,  sorry for the bad luck.   You will get things sorted out.  Seat time is seat time and you got another heat race under your belt.

Yeah rear end, funny thing is we pulled it all apart, got it working fine, no damage internally, I put the housing back on and boom it wouldn’t work, at that point I grabbed a beer and went inside the house

Sounds like you've been doing my online "SMF's school of mechanicin'".

The last course was grabbing a beer and saying "phuque it".

Next installment is starting with a beer, then advanced throwing shit.

100% agree Young Money has them beat on talent. It’ll never happen, but I’d love to see what current day Larson could do running High Limit or WoO full time. I think Gravel would probably come out on top in points, where Kyle would win more races but probably end up on the hook more nights than Gravel.

Regardless, the drama between the two last year was so much fun to watch as a fan.

I wish he'd ditch those overweight rolling billboards and get in an actual race car full time.   Either F1 or Indy.   Because he has plenty enough raw talent to do either but is too caught up in that snoozefest of 3400# barges and the cash it gives him.    He grew up turning left and racing open wheel cars, that 100% is his roots.  But hes making the same mistake that Gordon and Stewart both made.    True dirt sprint racers who got lured away by the money.  You ask Tony and Jeff both, and they will tell you their biggest regret is not getting their face on the Borg Warner trophy.  They chased the money and it was all fun and games at the time,  but now they are old and looking back, they realize they shoulda did like SuperTex did.  Because they DID have the skill to do it.  Now they cant go back.    AJ put his entire heart and soul in Indy cars,  but still went on occasion and played around with NASCAR and other stuff for S&Gs.  And he won some of those big races too,  ie Daytona 500 and 24 Hour at Le Mans.  But he always kept his eye and focus on Indianapolis.

But Id settle for seeing him with WoO or High Limit fulltime and you are probably right with how he would fare against the current top talent.   But I just think he does not see 410s as a challenge nor that fulfilling at this point in his life.

Need some roll-offs for the camera! This has low-key become one of my favorite threads to follow, both for the adventures and misadventures, and the general sprinter talk. Hope the mechanical luck turns around soon.

DD ... take your time with that rear end !!! Was crawling under one in a 25min swap thrash a while back and the 5min horn went off. Needless to say when the cable end wasn't the same as the other rear end the car didn't make the main.

Moral is don't let it get to you. Used equipment can be a blessing and a curse. Keep your chin up!!

... and yeah I laughed pretty good "transmission"🤦
