Does this look like crank seals?

2005 RM85. I’ve got the fuel really lean at the moment 50:1 just to see if that dries things up but I’ve got oil leaking onto the shed floor and lots running out of the silencer. Any help is appreciated.

To be sure, measure the in and out of the transmission fluid after a few hrs on the bike.

A leak down test is another way to confirm a c seal leak, for that it's best to pull the clutch cover and hit the seal area with some soapy water.

In many cases a bad crank seal indicates a bad main bearing.

What pre-mix oil at what ratio had you been running and what level rider? Check/repack the silencer too.

Motul 800, 50:1, intermediate rider. Silencer is brand new, maybe an hour on it.

You may very well have a leaky crank seal, but on the point of oil ratio....

Less oil does not equal less spooge.  That is an age old fallacy of novice tuners.

Spooge is not just oil, but unburned fuel.  Unburned fuel is caused by low combustion temps which is caused by an overly rich fuel to air ratio NOT gas to oil ratio.

If you are running 32:1 or 40:1 and getting spooge, the right move is not to put less oil in.  The correct action is to lean the jetting out.  Many times putting less oil in can actually make the spooge worse since lowering the oil amount actually richens the fuel to air ratio (effectively richens the jetting).  Easiest way to think of it - a jet is a fixed size orifice that flows a certain volume of liquid.  If less of that volume is oil, that means more is gas.  That means lowering your oil amount richens your jetting.

Thanks mate. The first thing i did when we got the bike was take it to the local bike mechanic and he checked the jetting and said it was all fine. I feel like the bike is lacking all of its bottom end power, its very difficult to ride but when its revving it absolutely flies. I definitely feel like this was a purchase i shouldve passed on.
