On press day they usually have two-three sections built then Friday they get busy and do the rest of the track.

noone was standing on the side of the track with a gun forcing anyone to go for a tough combination. dungey made it over while RV was coming up short, watch the video of it.

thats something that is telling about where this sport is headed. Look back just a few short years ago. There were combintions that only 2 or 3 went for, and 4th - 20th didnt do it. Now when they go for one, its a track fault. Granted, if you are one of the top guys, and a different top guy does it, you pretty much do have a gun to your head to do it. But when did it become a track design "fault" when they go for a tough combo that only a few are doing?

Hell, what happened to monster whoops? There is nothing to differenciate riders now other than flat corner speed.

What was "tough" about that combination was the danger. There were a decent number of guys jumping it easily but the cost to come up short was holding the rest back. It could have been much safer and made even more challenging in less than five minutes.

The fact that several top riders were chirping about it speaks volumes; those guys have no fear facing down 'tough combinations'.

RV said in an interview that the right side of the jump was a lot different than the left. As far as the face angle. I believe he said some of the plywood before the take of had been exposed too, Hence the endo caused by lack of traction. Maybe Gibby had a good view of it? I saw him standing right there in a video when Villo was being carted off.

The cost of coming up short has always been the same 555.

The balls to hit it may need to be larger this year.....

All jumps are not the same. Riders can usually case a jump and it not matter. The jump RV crashed on was peaked more then usual

The fault wasn't the jump... it was the plywood that emerged in between the two. They fix berms before the mains, why not patch that up too? Rider safety should always be paramount.

Because if you're a top-five guy, you pretty much have to...

That's where the rythm section is supposed to be at in the last picture, do they smoothen those way down? They look tall, I think they shape them out and possibly fill in the gap a little bit.

the dirt will pack from like 6 foot down to like 3 foot.

The face of that triple doesn't look very steep or is it just the angle of the photo?

I use to remember them being scary steep - like you could barely walk up them.
