Being mostly a conservative myself, I also noticed gas seemed to jump right after the republicans won control of Congress.
And now it seems the blame game as to who's fault it is every time it jumps in price has begun.
I listen to all these reasons for the increases and the threats of more to come and I get the feeling I'm being lied to.
A few years back, any little disturbance in the Middle East caused an increase of .05 to .10.
Some people blame the stock market speculators.
Now they're blaming China.
They say we need to drill more off shore and in Alaska but I just don't believe drilling here will lower the price. They will come up with another excuse to keep gas/oil up where they ( the oil companies) want it.
What are you so worry about- we pay $5.88 a gallon and it`s not so bad. Well, you have to cut back on food, clothes, children, education, vacation, but other than that it`s all good.
Gouging the consumer for oil isn't a partisan issue. Neither side cares about the American consumer, and will do what ever they need to to keep their coffers full.
BTW: This is more about speculators getting rich, than it is about oil companies.
If I may, I have something to add.

BINGO!!!
It's another Wall St shell game.
The whole price jump to $4.00 plus a gallon last time was driven by Oil speculators who drove up the price and made a shit ton of money.
The thing I don't like about those predictions is there really is no way to predict prices of a product like that two years ahead of time.
Too many variables and unknowns. Gas could be lower or it could be $8 per gallon if disaster happens.
