2023 ktm sxf inline fuel filter question

Hi there bought my 2023 ktm sx 350 with 6hrs on 2 years ago. Bike runs mint. Having a check over  it for the upcoming season. Was going to change the little inline fuel filter in the quick connector & found it has been removed (not by me). Would it be best to just leave it or put a new one in. I've heard they can cause problems. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

I would put a new one in there. It’s the last line of defense in keeping dirt out of the injectors.

I have never heard of them causing issues. I think it is there to protect the injector if the fuel pump starts coming apart and sending debris downstream.

Install a new filter, change every 10-15 hrs, they are cheap and do their job as intended…when you look closely at the bottom of the filter, after 10-20hrs, there is debris in the filter…

Great I'll put a new one in then see how it runs. I just read reports of them causing running & bad staring  issues.

Only because they get debris in them. I buy multipack of them and replaced several times throughout the year. Fairly cheap.
