I just installed that justin.tv app and it is stupid simple. Just press the red button to go live and you can even chat with people who are watching your video (although that would hinder the quality of your video shooting/aiming). iPhone users can download the app via iTunes (I assume it's free). Come on people, someone volunteer to do a live video feed of the race so us people's in the DMXS chat have something to watch! Smile

I see a lot of folks voicing their disapproval, but how many have written to express their displeasure? I have.

Just sent an email to SX online. Civil but direct. And clearly pointless. They want to sell SX like a circus. They don't care about us folks who like the racing. Look at the broadcasts. We are expendable.

Well, I just set up my justin.tv channel and will be happy to broadcast a little video from the STL pits and from the race (assuming obtainable 3g or wifi). The camera on my phone sucks though so hopefully others with better cameras will pick it up and run with it. It even saves what you broadcast so you can watch it later or have it directly upload to youtube. It's free and even a shmuck like me figured it out.

The idea of FELD charging people from different countries and military personnel to stay connected to the AMA Supercross series is completely ridiculous but I understand how it can save money. I used to attend 3 races per year and pay for 3-6 tickets for each, hotel rooms, food and travel until they took away the free live audio. I have saved thousands in recent years and it looks like I'll be saving big again in 2011. I'd never pay for interweb audio and until FELD reconnects people outside the US, I won't give them a dime of my money.

Maybe you could broadcast live shows from Speed and CBS through your justintv channel.

Wimps!

All this technology and demand for real and instant info, and so far all anyone has come up with is tapping into existing managed news!?

I'm disappointed!

You folks should come up with some radical ideas... what about an "FNN" Fans News Network? All this technology... Cel cameras...twitter.... Sheesh, just one of you could be a reporter and call yourself "The Factory Twit..."..

Nah!

Never mind!

Actually that's an easy trick as well. hopefully someone will take on that task. Speed might already stream the live shows (just speculating).

Major, major, major mistake and horrible, horrible, horrible idea to end the live broadcasts. Will we not be able to hear each race live if it is not shown on tv? This just ruined most of the season for me. I would gladly pay to hear the broadcasts, so don't be stupid and get it back on. I am so bummed right now and it is a huge step backwards.
Exactly what I was thinking. I've been keeping up with Supercross online since the old Cycle News Virtual Grandstand days. I can't imagine not having access to a webcast during a race. I don't even have Speed where I'm at, so this is going to blow. I paid to hear the webcasts last year and would gladly pay again this year. Not sure I'm liking this FELD thing yet. I'm sure this has something to do with them wanting and needing a large viewership for their live TV broadcasts, and I can understand and appreciate that, but this really sucks for us oldtimers that have been listening to the webcasts for years.

How about a riot at Feld Corporate office? Maybe get a few hostages until they meet our demands.

We, the racing fans, are being cut loose. We're a small group, and they don't need us.

They are selling personalities, crashes, and boobs, not racing.

I sent an email saying I don't have Speed. They sent me the form letter telling me to watch Speed.

What I was trying to say is- is there a possibility to connect your justintv channel to a cable or tv or dvr or something like that , to stream a HQ quality broadcast.

Yes, that was what my previous reply to your post was about. The phone broadcast is a completely separate thing that I hope some people take up when they go to the race and there isn't a live broadcast for that particular race. Anybody with a TV capture card and a network connection should be able to broadcast the coverage on justin.tv.

Maybe a small army of iPhone 4 folks could do it. The FNN needs it's own site. Other sites might bend to threats from Feld goons. You could have people cruise the pits, update gossip, then be spread out all over the stadium for the night show. No one could stop it unless they start patting people down and taking their phones!

I have a feeling they'd go after you any way they could. I mean, even if you're right you'd still have to defend in court. Who knows, do they own the word Supercross? Who's gonna pay for that? I dunno, unless it was a private club, a yahoo group with a password or something, I see trouble. That being said, count me in.Smile
