I ordered a new carbon skid plate from Lightspeed, and decided I was going to have the tabs welded to the frame as the race bike had.
(I'm not sure why this bike didn't have them to begin with- it's entirely possible this was a second bike/frame. I don't know how I didn't first spot it 5 years ago, but I found "KV" stamped on the shock tower section of the frame. Keeney and Vuillemin I suppose...)
I used a friend's mill to cut off the fingers from the aluminium mounting tabs supplied by LS. Then I went to a welder buddy who welded all 4 tabs in about 40mins. Happy with the result.
Does the swingarm have an extra brace in front of the rear shock like the HRC bikes used to have?
Edit: Those are available at https://www.csr-precision.com/fi/collections/motorsport among other cool HRC replica stuff
It does not have that brace on the swingarm, but that looks like a cool mod. I wonder how it would translate in the handling
My brother has a ex CAS Honda team MXGP bike with similar brace in the swingarm and HRC main frame with skid plate brackets etc. I don't what are the exact differences but that bike handles exceptionally good. Way better than any other last generation CR250 I have ridden..

Are you 100% sure it's the real race bike? I looked at the right side of the bike you have and Dv's bike, and the weld pattern on the main frame is different. The pattern is like a fingerprint. No 2 bikes with have the "stack of dimes" identical. They are all subtlety different. Still a cool bike!
I cannot say for sure this was the race bike that DV raced on- but I know for a fact it originally came from the Holigan team. It was likely a practice bike. There are many subtleties about the bike to prove this, and when I acquired the bike for the first time 5 years ago I was able to trace all the owners back to DV's mechanic at the time who imported it from Texas to Canada after the team folded.
And thank you, bike will be mostly done any day now! Just waiting on the Lightspeed pegs and new graphics in the mail. Will be posting pics soon
Bike is built and nearly completed. Threw back on the Keeney plastics that came with the bike years ago. New graphics with the #12 are on the way. Just have a few small things left to do on it, and it'll be finished.
