I understand how the number system works. But i don’t think guys in the 250 class that aren’t rookies should have 3 digit numbers. Weird that mcadoo and brown both with wins /podiums etc in 250 SX or smx. Are 3 digit guys this year. Just because they got hurt early.

Thoughts ?

If they're gonna make those two guys who haven't earned permanent numbers run the number they earned based on their points they should make everyone do it. Wait.......

Ehh always bigger problems. Just weird seeing race winning veterans of the 250 class as 3 digit guys.

Sharing 1 set of numbers across 2 classes in pro racing is hideous.  No other sport does this.

How many numbers does each rider get when they ride 250 indoor and 450 outdoor? Or 250 on the west and 450 on the east?

Most motorsports don't allow three digit numbers, either. There's a thousand numbers choose from and about 500 guys who race pro during a given season, so there's more than enough to share. A number of privateers ride both classes at some point during the season. Having one set of numbers is easier.

Back in 79, they did it across 3 classes. Only 1-20 though.
