If that happened here, and I had the same visual as the video. Dead  player...

But that's movie shit huh?

Try it.

Or maybe Australia would have firearm homicides rates that are even in the ballpark of the US. We have more guns than people yet those same people are killed at a 10X rate than Aussies.

The 1911 option looks good on paper, but in practice, it backfires mightily.

Does Australia have the gang problems the US has? Deaths in US cities with the highest homicide rates are overwhelmingly gang related.

and this is going exactly as expected

Has anyone ever changed their mind on gun control because of an argument on an Internet forum? 😂

Unfortunately yes, to answer the hard question. Truth be told most Muslims come from a 3rd world country that is not even close to being developed enough to recognize our laws and assimilate. You can see it across Europe, look at each country and then take a nice look at Poland. Easy to see the difference.

Now to explain this a bit further. It isn’t hate that drives this. In fact, I wish it was the opposite. But I happen to fancy my country and do not see a benefit for them to come here.

Australia is a perfect example, as a few apples spoil the bunch. I commend the gentleman who saved many lives and was shot himself in an act of pure bravery and selflessness. But a shutout would prevent this entirely. Again use Poland as example.

Tough question no doubt.

One thing that is disappointing is that some people online appear to take joy in the fact that this happened in Australia.

I understand that Australians can often be sanctimonious about our gun laws, so I understand to a point.

But nevertheless it’s says a lot that some people (not saying anyone here) are finding joy in this as if it is a win for their argument/beliefs, more than an unimaginable tragedy.

End of rant, have a good day

Kind of.....

I grew up around guns but it was mostly long guns for hunting. Concealed carry in Illinois wasn't a thing back then. Don't remember ever having a pistol in the house. I had no opinions on any of it either way until college. Was a volunteer in a big brother program and had a kid with me going to some activity. Got ran off the road and pinned in by some nut in road rage incident and realized in that moment how helpless i was. I had a strong desire to never be a helpless victim after that but I have also always been very data driven and rational to a fault. I read as much as I could on what both sides had to say about concealed carry and found the gun control arguments to be totally lacking. Went to a range and paid for a private lesson to try out some pistols and ask some questions and the rest is history.

20 years later and still carrying anywhere that doesn't have metal detectors regardless of what the signs say and I find the arguments even less credible now. But to answer your original question, maybe didn't have my mind changed, but started from a place of honest inquiry and was quickly convinced. So I don't necessarily engage in these arguments to change the mind of whoever I'm arguing with, but you never know who might be reading along and genuinely on the fence.

Definitely not taking any victory laps. You can see what you want to see on this one. Strict gun laws and evil still found a way, absolutely true. Far more death and destruction if they were shooting something semi auto, also absolutely true.

Neither side is ever going to get anywhere parsing through details of individual events, the issues at play are so much bigger.

Same thing when Charlie Kirk was murdered. People were cheering and wrecking memorials. Despicable behavior to say it’s ok and cheer at the death of someone(even if you disagree)

There is no denying Hamas created abhorrent programs aimed at violence against Jews. That group’s leadership is willing to sacrifice its own people in an effort to increase anti-Israeli sentiment globally. But these tactics are far from having universal acceptance.

We could post videos of nazis supporting Trump. Does that mean every Trump supporter is a nazi?  Absolutely not, but if I only release content supporting that narrative, it’s easy to convince those who already dislike Trump.

Off to update the old resume. I’ll make assistant salad bar technician in no time!

It was your last statement that earned you the “retard of the week” award. Why haven’t we seen these videos. Maybe because they don’t exist.

So really the crux of our disagreement is whether Israel is making war on Palestine or committing genocide against it. Genocide I guess would constitute an act of terrorism right?

Now I personally don’t give a shit what governments of other countries, or organizations, or international bodies say, as they hold no legitimacy in my eyes. But not for nothing dude you do realize that the majority of the world believe Israel is committing genocide and crimes against humanity? What they’re doing in Palestine meets all the criteria of genocide. So I guess put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Either way I draw no distinction between war and terrorism. It’s a completely arbitrary distinction made by men and institutions I have no respect for. When your life is on the line you use whatever means available. Right and wrong means very little in matters of life or death. Desperate people do desperate things and all wars are wars fought for territory and resources.
Israel didn’t even exist 100 years ago. All the territory they have, they have because they fought and killed and died in the name of god for it.
I’m not here to judge right or wrong, just pointing out the futility of such actions.

I'm not Jewish but, this has been a thing since I can remember in 1972 at the Olympics. The targeting of non-military civilians from pure hate has to stop! Israel did not attack "Palestine", if those guys would have just slept in and had a nice breakfast all their shit would still be standing.

You think that terrorism like this began with the 1972 Olympics?  You should do a little reading about the terroristic actions leading up to the establishment of the country of Israel. It’s crazy.

Of course that doesn’t justify violence like this attack, but it’s important to keep in mind that these things almost never happen in a vacuum and trying to claim “They started it!” is pretty disingenuous because any ‘starting’ point is arbitrary and usually picked to support whatever side you already cheer for.

I was referring to my personal fatigue of seeing it since childhood. In addition to that, was addressing the people calling Gaza a genocide. Israel did not just attack out of nowhere; it was a horror show on Oct 7 which was the action that caused a reaction. Then the truth came out about how the city was transformed into a fortress, they really were using schools, hospitals and homes as FOBs. When your family is attacked by hornets in your backyard you do something about it.

She's in Canada, but mentions the US and Australia. We need more people like her. The West needs to wake the fuck up.
