$1 Billion of tax payer dollars from Minnesota went to Somalia and terrorist organizations from Somalia. Complete incompetence? On purpose? To me, this is a huge deal taking tax payer dollars and not giving back to the seniors and disabled and those in need.

How the hell does one relatively small population state have an extra billion dollars to give out in freebies to begin with?

How much did they give out that wasn't "fraudulent"?

Just crazy that one thousand million dollars can get stolen, after a few hundred million you would think some auditor or accountant would have noticed crazy amounts of money flying out the door. Government inefficiency at its finest.

If all is good with 40b to Argentina and the white house meeting with Ahmed al-Sharaa, I don't see the sudden fixation with this?

I see native Minnesotans a lot like Europeans. Willing to give up their tax dollars, freedom, and safety if it means not being called a bigot.

Truth.  Said it before but the twin cities have changed big time in the past 30 years,  not for the better.

Walz pretends to be just left of center, but he's all the way.

You don’t see funneling state tax dollars to Somalian terrorist groups not a large deal? Did you ever vote for Ukraine aid? That stupid war cost us over 150 billion while we get nothing out of it. Stupid waist of tax dollars. Is that the same scenario?

If it's found to be true from the investigations, of course it's not permissible. However if you're going to shine light on this specific instance, lets not forget a literal terrorist was welcomed into the white house less than a month ago.

Nothing out of it? I would consider the dwindling of RU military assets and soldiers a worthy expense to pay at the cost of minimal US lives. Stupid war is right though, RU should have never started it in the first place.

If this true, that’s actually super crazy.

But then again we send even more billions to Isreal every year and no one blinks an eye

That comparison is quite the stretch.

What does Somalia have to offer us besides refugees?

the hypocrisy of politics in America is the problem...you are active participant in the problem...rather than stay on topic and admit that Walz is an idiot at best and a criminal at worst and (if true) condemn the money going to Somalia...you just point out the other side doing something seemingly similar (though drastically different) as your defense?    Thanks for being part of the problem...

I remember reading about an ethnic group in east county (san diego) a few years back.

They were refugees and applied for any and all government aid. The local residents were upset

they were getting all this government aid and dropping their kids off at school in new Mercedes.

Apparently there was a whistle blower that came forward about all the "aid" applications.

Noting ever became of it.

AI says...

While a major fraud scandal in Minnesota involved over $1 billion in stolen taxpayer funds meant for social services, claims that this money went to Somali terrorist groups like al-Shabab lack concrete evidence, with prosecutors not bringing such charges, though investigations into potential diversion of some funds continue amidst political rhetoric.

So I don't know about the Somali terrorist part, but it seems the $1B being gone part is true, which I had the same reaction as @AZ35 ......how on earth does this happen with this much money?? If there is a connection with money being stolen from taxpayers and that money leaving the country, that's pretty close to treason except that Somalia is not listed as an enemy or adversary, plus the Somali gov't is fighting al-Shishkabob. Otherwise, start revoking citizenships for taxpayer theft when the money leaves the USA. Casper-white tenth generation brodozer native or not, revoke it.

I wouldn’t. I want zero and I mean zero dollars going to foreign wars. We can argue all day about that war and how USA started it and Biden overthrew the banking system and placed coke head in office. But hey, here we are 150 billion later.

As do the first part about afghan. I am in total agreement that it was wrong and I questioned it at the time. Oil is a big deal, and the USA is strategically setting itself up globally to own the majority of it.

When it is all said and done, complaining about boats doesn’t do a damn thing. It’s a waist of your time and energy. I feel he should focus on reduction in housing prices, interest rates(should see soon) and affordability. Then focus on the awful education system, the NPO taking everyone’s money and doing nothing with it, crime in major cities and actually upholding the law instead of catch and release.

You may want to dig further and ask AI what institutions funneled the money and how much. Then look YOY for the previous 10’years and you will be astonished.

This topic is new to me, so all I've done so far was search using your first sentence and certainly the bulk of it seems true, which is crazy. But, I just did what you asked and here's what it came back with...

The stolen money in Minnesota, estimated to be over $1 billion, came from several state and federal public assistance programs, primarily the federal child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The largest single source of the stolen funds was the "Feeding Our Future" fraud scheme, which received over $250 million in taxpayer cash intended to provide meals to needy children. This money was then siphoned off by individuals who created fake meal sites and submitted fraudulent reimbursement claims for meals that were never actually served.
Other programs targeted by fraudsters included:

Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program under Medicaid: Fake service companies were allegedly created to bill for services that were never provided.

Autism services for children: A separate scheme involving fraudulent autism diagnoses and services was uncovered, stealing millions.

Federal prosecutors have charged 87 individuals in connection with these schemes, with 61 convictions to date. The stolen funds were reportedly used to purchase luxury cars, real estate, and for overseas transfers, with some potentially funneled to the terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Somalia through informal money-transfer systems known as hawalas.

And that's just disgusting. Just......shut everything down until systems are in place to prevent it.

Which of course add lots of bureaucracy ($$$) and pretty quickly you see why people are distrusting of the government (unless they're killing brown people in which case it 's pure trust lol).

Nobody gets out of a place like Somalia without plenty of capital and connections. They aren't refugees, they're sent by Al-Shabaab. The ones that look like refugees are just window dressing.

I would argue it's a perfectly on-topic observation. As well, you read that first sentence and still chose to ignore it agrees with the original topic. To what, find a way to direct your anger at something? That's the problem with politics.

If all you said on the topic was "If it's found to be true from the investigations, of course it's not permissible"....you'd have a valid point.  And I'd have agreed with you, and we wouldn't be having this conversation...

But all the "whataboutism" hypocrisy in your first post ("If all is good with 40b to Argentina and the white house meeting with Ahmed al-Sharaa, I don't see the sudden fixation with this?") and the rest of your second post ("However if you're going to shine light on this specific instance, lets not forget a literal terrorist was welcomed into the white house less than a month ago.") represents the problem with modern politics.  And its not on topic for this discussion because the topic is Walz (not the white house, not donald trump).

The political philosophy of: "You can't say anything about the dumb things my team is doing because your team also does dumb things"...is mind numbingly stupid, and weak...

“You can't say anything about the dumb things my team is doing”, never happened. I pointed out the lack of criticality for events transpiring in two other recent examples which are similar in nature. I don’t approve of this situation and others from the other side. I’m not going to apologize for expanding on the initial conversation 😂
