Growing up in New England, you can't ride MX without looking up to Doug. When I got really into MX several years ago, one thing i always heard about was this guy named Doug Henry that was the nicest, down to earth guy around, yet had no problem going so fast on a dirt bike that you didn't think what you were watching was real. After several years of seeing him at Southwick, riding at a benefit ride after his injury, nothing can compare to this summer. He showed up at my buddies track and gave a clinic on how fast you can go on a bike. No feet to stabilize you, a heavy roll cage around you, and a built up WR450ish bike. Hearing that someone I've always somewhat looked up to was riding with you today will bring a smile to anyone's face.

Nothing compares to watching Doug ride, whether before his injury or now, it is something you feel honored to experience. To hear a bike coming up behind you and see its him, well you know that as fast as you think your going, there is plenty more speed left. I few laps following him and you will find some creative lines, and he'll still show all but the best the fast way around a track. The several days that he has come up to ride have been some of the most inspiring days in recent memory. With all the un-lucky things that have found their way into his and his families lives, you know with someone like Doug, he will get through this and he'll do it with a smile.

You can't expect anything less from a guy that wants nothing more than to have a good time and show others some fun. While people did make some crazy comments in the paper, like someone said, what the fire department and PD do means nothing to you, until it is YOU who they are helping. They did all they can and in the end nobody The area he lives in is pretty remote, especially for our area, and to think that much help made it there is an accomplishment in itself. Hopefully in the end things work out and Doug and family can move on from here.

I can't even believe it. I feel so bad for him and his family! That was their dream home and they built it. When I was up there for the interview, the YZ400M was not stored in the house or the 93 CR125. But a lot of stuff that can't be replaced was and it doesn't look like anything was saved. How does stuff happen consistently to people that are so nice?

The fire cheif in the news video said it was an investment property and under renovation.

I cannot put into words what I am feeling right now.

It is just wrong that any family should have to endure as much heart ache in their life as what Doug and Stacy have had to go through.

My thoughts are definately with the family and I too am glad nobody was in the house at the time.

This song reminds me of what Doug Henry would say if people start feeling sorry for him. Doug is a true american hero

What's Doug's current situation regarding his spinal injury? Read somewhere he was able to walk without sticks now.

Last time I saw him he was walking with those forearm crutches. With Doug though I wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing him run the NY marathon.
