In CA we have some designated "dog beaches" where you can take your dog off lead to play.
Last week in Ocean Beach dog beach, 2 dogs playing ODed from fentanyl. One they saved but the other passed. Don't know if it was absorbed in their skin on the sand or in the water.

Recently at a park near where I live, a young couple took their dog for a walk, which they do daily. After they got home, they noticed the dog was not doing too good and took it to an emergency after hours vet clinic. The vet determined the dog had ingested some meth. The owners say the only place the dog could have ingested the meth was at the park. The dog survived and made a full recovery. Now the question is - was the meth accidently dropped by some tweak or was it left on purpose for a dog or kid to ingest ?

Something I'll be doing when I finally get a Pup, is finding some sort of Muzzle ( that doesn't hinder / make things unpleasant for the Pup - though, that seems difficult to achieve) , that will help stop ingestion of 'things' she doesn't need to munch on.
As, I doubt that I, by myself, can train a Jack Russell Not to try anything out. They are Little Nutters. But, we'll (both) be training for her to be a Hospital Visit Doggo ( they've so, So helped me in my stays, and I really want to give back some happiness, and comfort to others) , so, we may have a chance at her Not automatically mouthing 'things' .
A trainer friend has said I have a good shot at training a Pup to Not go after Snakes - a Big fear with my taking a Pup into the Bush nearby / well, even my Mulch City small yard / jungle - that's a real concern for me, as Doggos regularly get 'hit' by Snakes around here.
It's not really about fears of Fentanyl / ICE, whatever substance that may be left around, it's about all of the sorts of things people discard / lose, be it by mistake, or maliciously, that Pups can try to munch on.
Terrible situation...it's everywhere. I live in a very rural area and was walking my dog several months ago and she went to off to the side of the road to do what dogs do. Good thing I was paying attention as I saw a couple used syringes lying on the ground. Never thought I'd see it around here but yup.

Last dog I had picked up a big ole fish hook that was baited with a chunk of dried up perch to catch catfish. I don't know how i got so lucky as to get it out of his mouth before it became lodged.
The current dog ate a lot of a dirty diaper, swallowing the wipes my wife used on the grand daughters bum. The dog had some funky poop for a few days before throwing up the wipe one morning.
My stupid dog has tasted chocolate. It didn't kill him, but now he's like a junkie, always looking for that next fix. He'll eat anything, hoping it's some kind of delicious candy. A few days back, he ate the TV remote for my bigscreen; effing ATE the buttons off it and part of the plastic housing is missing! Thank goodness he didn't get the batteries. He eats sticks, rocks, and the stuffing out of his stuffed animals. Dude has a real problem.

You just described our dog to a T. She is like a crack whore who would do anything for sugar. I blame my wife for her having that problem, she is definitely the dog's dealer.
Sydney is very "treat" driven. It made training very easy. Always had/have a treat bag with. Whenever she was good, she'd get a treat, even if she was just laying quietly. So much so that for a time we had to eliminate meals. Pretty soon, only good behavior.

As potent as fentanyl is , I wonder if blowing up fully loaded drug trafficking boats in the ocean is a good idea.
My suspicion is almost all of it is destroyed in the blast
Would it be any worse than Fukushima still leaking? Are radioactive sharks more deadly than high on fentanyl sharks? I’ll also state that I don’t know jack shit about either topics. Fukushima is always in the back of my mind when pollution or contamination comes up.
I heard the missiles are laced with Narcan so there is no harm to sea life.

I used to be like you, animals live in the barn and humans in the house.
I have never ever seen a tick infested, flea infested dog in a grocery store. I have never seen dog hair in anything I bought at the grocery store. Have you?
Wouldn't be much help as a service dog if I couldn't take her with everywhere. As a side note, the most common thing I hear from store clerks, "I wish people's kids were as well behaved as Sydney"
Serious question for you, why would you think Sydney (or any other proper service dog) is more likely to have fleas than the person standing next to you in line?
