I still ride at the young age of 37. My friend is 52 and just qualified for the Loretta regionals in the +45 class, and he does not ride but once a week. Nothing wrong with riding at your young age. Back in the early 90's I knew a guy who was 72, rode a YZ490 and raced every weekend, his name was Hurb. He was not the fastest on the track and did not hit every jump, if any, but he was out there and enjoying himself.

I quit racing back in 1984 and have'nt been on a bike since.
What's your input?
Thanks, Mark
I'm 41 and ride when I can. Racing is about impossible with my business but I get to ride during the week.

45 and just started racing again. Was pretty much just a practice rider once or twice a week but decided to try the LL qualifier this year.Made it out of my area in the 40+,and the 45+ after only one previous warmup race.(the regional will be much harder).I followed that race up with a first at REM and now I'm hooked.I'm racing the 4-stroke World Championships at Glen Helen this weekend and will race Amateur day there too in May.I've only raced 12 times in the last 10 years but now I'm getting back into it.4 strokes are awesome!

Give me a break on 2 PW classes, 4 stroke(should be a 2 stroke only class), 2 supermini classes. Its time for us old farts( young at heart) to have our class back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought this 200 for my 50th birthday. I ride with my son at least once a week and raced my first HS in over 20 years a few weeks ago. Everytime I ride I am amazed at how much fun it still is.

I'm the Vet World Champion in the 50+ Intermediate after laying off for 15 years(family thing!) and now race more than I did when I was a kid and having more fun than ever, join a Vet club such as 'over the hill gang' or Oldtimersmx and ride!

I raced more when I turned 30 then 40 then I did in my youth.

This pic was taken at the AZOTMX International where I raced my first 50+ Master class and got 3rd O/A. Having just as much fun if not more and I feel I got faster with age although I do not push the edge like you did when you are young & fearless.

Like Larry I too am amazed at how much fun I have riding and racing at this age and I still get excited the night before and driving to the races, but to me everything else is kinda boring....

41 here. No more MX but I ride as much as I can and started racing scrambles 5 years ago. I am hooked on scrambles, way more seat time than a day at the track and if I am not in the top 5 at the start I let everyone go and chase them down in the woods.

Damn, we have enough + forty guys on this board to fill a starting gate!!

I'm 46, I don't race MX anymore (no tracks within 4 hours) but I ride as much as I can. Still Ice Race every winter as well. Looking to maybe do some Hare Scrambles with my son next year.

I'll never stop if I can help it!!

NO, YOU are NOT out of your mind. MY good friend Rick Wright#75 is 47yrs old and still kicks ass. He races mx on a regular basis including lorettas, mini o's, ultra/mega, etc. events.

He ALSO rides mt. bikes and can compete with me and even beat me on days.

Go get you a bike

This is my first year in the 40+ class and I have having a blast. Gates are full and plenty of people to race with, and it's very competitive.
In the 40+ class I am one of the "young up and comers." Cool thing about the vet class is people aren't so cutthroat and it's all about fun. I was on the start line recently and someone yelled out to everybody: "Don't kill me now- I've got to be at work tomorrow!" And we all busted up.

I wish my buddy would post here. He's in his mid 70's and still rides regularly (dez/on-off road stuff). Two Christmas's ago he broke his femur two weeks before I was gonna visit Cali (he lives in Hesperia) and ride with him. Of course he doesn't make the ride, but I figure I'll go visit him to see how he's doing. I pull up to his house and he's putting around on his 250 with his leg held high. I ask him what the heck he thinks he's doing, and he shoots back, "Well, my doc told me to stay off my leg."

He's my idol.

Oldtimers Internationals have divisions of 40+ 50+ 60+ 70+ 80+ Jr. Am. Exp. Master. Cmon Loretta's give us baby boomer a little bit with a break down of A, B, C so we don't have to ride against Dubach and Emig and past national champs!

Sorry Mark but I've got to ask you a queston. You don't have to answer= ARE YOU A PUSS OR WHAT.

You act like a 44 y/o that has no balls. Only a medical reason should keep you from riding. I still ride and race some and I'm 56 y/o. I'm slow and old but still love riding when I can. I race some vintage and a few modern race tracks that more old school then supercross. I don't care if I don't double jump or even come in next to last in a race. I ride for fun and the enjoyment of sending time with my 22 y/o son. I invite you to come to Georgia and I will let you ride either my 1982 Honda CR480 or my 2003 CRF450.

Last year at a vintage race I meet a man Mr. Terry that was in his 70's that still loves to ride and you will see lots of guys still riding thats 60 y/o.

44 and still riding every week. I rarely race anymore because I don't like waiting all day long for two 10 minute motos.
