As the name of the topic says i need some info about a road trip that involves Red Bud.

I was thinking about starting in Chicago( nearest major airport?) then going to Red bud.
Now i’m wondering if you guys have any recommendations for a great road trip. I was thinking about heading to South dakota and end our trip in Denver. But i don’t know what to expect from that area?

Another option is heading south direction Nashville.

We’re more into driving and discovering America. We’re also more into National parks. We don’t have a problem with the big cities, but only for 1 or 2 days max. 😀

So do any of you guys have any suggestions/tips? We could have 8 or 9 days after Red Bud.

2 days to Denver from RB. From there, hit Pike's Peak and Rocky Mountain National Park.  After that, either head due west into Utah to visit the 5 NP's or NW into Wyoming to visit Teton and Yellowstone.   If you go NW, keep going north to Glacier NP

Leave Red Bud and head to Black Hills SD, then work your way down to Denver via Yellowstone and Rocky Mt National park. The first day of your drive will be boring going across I-90 but you will be rewarded the rest of your trip.

The Great Lakes Shorelines of MI Is actually pretty cool, especially in the Upper Peninsula in areas like the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It would be an easy way to kill a few days

I was thinking about Cluster, badlands and black hills. What’s the scenery like from Buchanan to let’s say black hillss? I’ve read South Dakota is not so populated. So do tou have a lot of choice of hotels/restaurants?
RMNP and yellowstone is also something we did allready.
I was maybe thinking of going up to Glacier NP. But the problem it isn’t near a major airport to head back home.

I still have family up there so since we were that close We went up to Red Bud - Buchanan Michigan after the MXoN to visit my oldest relative 97 year old cousin Bonnie and 2 of her sons that are my 2nd cousins. She is still sharp as a whistle and been my go to for family history. She even lived on our 200 year old family farm in Sodus at one point.

We stay at the Bear Cave Thousand Trails campground that’s opposite side of Red Bud Trail about 1/4 from the track.

There are hotels in Benton Harbor / Saint Joseph area.

Scenery from Red Bud to Black Hills in summer is gentle rolling hills and corn. Oh and the occasional thunderstorm.

Think about this, fly back into Reno and go visit Tahoe and over to Napa Valley the Muir woods and fly home out of SFO.

No matter what you decide have a great time.
