I would buy a bike from a real bike company

E bikes are basically dirt bikes, wouldn't that mean you would rather buy one from a dirt bike company?

The fact that both Yamaha and the PMG group tried to make their own bikes and then stopped makes me think it’s not as easy as you think it is. 

Yeah, Yamaha was the only emtb manuf to my knowledge who actually designed and made their own frames and motor in house. Nobody does this. Now they quit emtbs completely...and they made a GREAT bike. I have a Moro7. They still mauf motors for others however..Emtb manuf like (Trek, Giant, Intense) all source out 100% of everything on the open market except the frame. Basically all big bike names are simply assembly plants. Little or no actual manuf is done in house at all. They design the frame and then it gets built by a 3rd party usally in Taiwan or China. So, this bike business can't be easy to make a profit on. 

Did I say easy? I'm just pointing out the logical fallacy in his statement 

I guess I meant it's not easy to sell them if you're a motorcycle manufacturer.  People go to bicycle shops to buy bicycles, not motorcycle shops.  There was a big push around covid by many brands to do that and it didn't work at all unfortunately. 

Honestly, selling bicycles in motorcycle shops was a stupid idea. I mean, who goes to a motorcycle shop to get a bicycle? Almost nobody. Yamaha, Ducati, Gas Gas, Husky etc...all did it. And none worked out. Plus, most motorcycle mechanics/shops don't know, or even care to know, how to proplery set up a bicycle or even begin to handle any warranty issues. Let alone stock any parts for the bikes they sell. 

I got the Husky MC5 a few months ago. I've only ridden it a couple of times and only on the street. It seems to be really well built and is a blast to ride with the pedal assist. 

This. Bike companies are little more than fronts for marketing departments. Convincing dentists and people with money to burn that their 8000 offerings with the same geometry, suspension, transmission, and brakes, are worth double XXX because of the name on the side of the downtube. The IP expired years ago on all the various rear suspension designs. Giant is the major exception - they actually make stuff, and for tons of other "OEMs." Hell, they made the wheels on my KTM.

I picked up a Husky to use at the track since everyone banned pitbikes and the dealer here was running crazy deals on them. I've been very happy with it and the frame geometry fits be a lot better than my mtb. This thing is a blast to ride.

Looks like the new Intense Tazer emtb is going with Fox suspension. Not sure if this is on all models, but based on their website, it looks like it's at least a build option.
