I'm sure today's moto-punks think of him as this guy, though:
I love that guy !
For example, Shorty. They guy hands down is awesome. I am a huge fan. Short though, is missing 1 key ingredient, the I am the MAN factor. MC had it, RC had it, JS has it, Reed has it, RV has it, Dungey now has it, Trey had part of it just needs to evolve it to the 450 level (and i think he can).
There is a long list of guys that had the sheer speed and fitness, but just didnt have the take no prisoners, and noone on this line can touch me attitude. Robbie Reynard leaps to mind. Travis Pastrana, Hughs, Huffman, Larocco, Hansen, KW, Shorty, Ferry, Lusk, Hill, Millsaps, Grant, those guys can go balistic speed. Those guys can literally go faster than the above guys.... in those rare times when their mindset clicks that day. Its being able to have that mindset every weekend, thats what makes a difference.
Here, perfect example. MC in the 90's. He was balls fast, he was THE man and he KNEW he was the man. He got on the gate, he KNEW, to his core, noone could beat him. Lusk would be faster all day, so would Emig, Larocco. But they all lined up HOPING they would win, MC lined up KNOWING he WOULD win.
You put 2 guys on the line, both are 100% identical in speed. One guy thinks he can win, the other guys knows to his core he will win.... guess who wins 9 out of 10 times and the 1 time they dont win consider it a fluke for the other guy.
