Hello everyone,
I ride a 22 yz250f, the bike was wery hard to turn, it was jumping front end high and the front end feel was bad so i closed the reb 2 by 2 clicks until i reach 2 out, now the bike turns better, jumps right and it's more stable but in braking bumps and in other situations with bumps when the bike is under load it's harsh and i get arm pump very very fast.
The question is: what can I do to make the bike turns well, it's stable wile keeping some confort?
Here the bike settings:
Fork
height 7mm
comp 12 out
reb 2 out
Shock
Rider sag 100
Static sag 40mm
comp 10 out
hicomp 7/8 out
reb 9 out
My weight is 67 with no clothes.
Thaks to anyone give me advises!
Do you have original fork valving and springs?
Where is your handlebar mount position? Most people seem to like the closest mount with the offset away from the rider.
Forks are valved and springs are original. The bars are in the closest mount and offset. I've tried cloest mount and the offset away from the rider but I prefer the closest I'm pretty short only 168cm
Because it is harsh in braking bumps and your fork rebound is slowed, it seems like your forks are packing (not returning fast enough, so you hit the next bump without your full suspension).
If it was me I would go back to a rebound setting closer to the middle of the range (13 out) and try to find a different way to address the front end high jumping.
If the forks have been re-valved, I would start by returning to stock valving and oil volume, stock settings are a great baseline.
I have the same problem with stock valving. Valving don't change that much. What you would change for better handling?

It's hard to say without seeing it.
The front end cornering feel could be from the handlebars too close to the rider. The front end high jumping could be from the handlebars too close too, because the rider will pull on the bars while going up the jump face.
Considering you're getting armpump, then you aren't losing anything by trying a new bar position.
I've already tryed and I prefer the closest. With the bars further away I feel the front end vaguer. I've tryed all from the stock position to the closest position. I was thinking to open the fork reb by 2 clicks an the rear shock 2 clicks too for balance the faster rebound setting on the front. Do you think I can get more comfort without sacrifice cornering and stability?
Another tought is to lower fork oil height to allow the suspension to move further down in the stroke when hit bumps while mid stroke so maybe the mid stroke harshness goes away. I have about 40/60 mm of fork travel available
Whenever I've been lost with setup, I put everything back to stock and start again.
Sounds a lot like your fork rebound is too slow and causing packing.
Fork rebound on 2-out is going to be crazy slow and problematic unless your revalve has extremely light rebound dampening. You are way down a rabbit hole that is going to be hard to get out of with a rebound setting like that.
Maybe 2 out is too slow but stock is 7 out so no that much far from stock setting. Obviously I've tryed stock configuration but the front is vague, busy and jumps front end high. I've tryed some other adjustments but the only thing that give me some results is close the rebound but with it's down sides, maybe there's something that i can't catch
4 strokes are typically prone to jumping front end low due to the engine braking up the face of the jump. Especially the 2022 YZ250F has pretty heavy engine braking. Maybe it's more a rider technique thing. Maybe you're keeping the throttle open too far up jump faces. Try accelerating harder approaching the jump and rolling off the throttle earlier as you go up the jump face and let the engine braking do the work for you. Related note - are you running your engine idle very high? As that would also decrease engine braking.
I think it's no a technique thing It's 13 years I ride and 8 I ride motocross I've jumped many times and I have any problem with jumps both with gas when I too slow and without when I have enough speed. The idle of the engine is bone stock. I think it's a suspension thing in fact with the slower rebound setting the bike jumps balanced and handling is better too but now I'm searching for more comfort. I don't want to say that two click out for rebound is righ I think that it's to slow too but it's the olnly way I've found to improve the bike and I wrote in the forum for this reason.
