Got the itch to throw more mod’s at my 23 Honda R and my KX450

Haven’t  been able to get out and ride much last few weeks.  For one it hot has hell, Oct 2nd and it was 93 today, maybe 94.  Also wife’s dad is not doing well, having to stay close to home, go with my wife to see him in assisted living.  I try help out best I can but mainly end up on my iPad.  He may not make it through the weekend.

Anytime I’m not able to get out and about I’m bad about getting online and looking at bike stuff, other projects etc.  I doubt I’m the only one like that.

I got the bright idea I need to add a Pro Circuit rear linkage system to my 23 CRF250R.  Few months back I added a Luxon triple clamp, made a big difference.  I haven’t ordered a PC rear linkage but probably will.  Still reading up but looks to be a good mod.  PC says spring stay the same, other info I read says might have to go up one spring rate.  I have a call into PC, haven’t heard back.

So to my 24 KX450.  Got to thinking, mod my Honda, why not mod my KX too.  Yeah I’m old and slow but it’s fun stuff to do.  My KX is showroom stock other than springs for my weight, guts seat and hammerhead shift lever.  For my KX I’m thinking about 23 degree Luxon clamp, Luxon bar mounts.  Maybe it’s me but I kinda feel a tick of vibration with my KX.  Thought maybe the stiffer clamp and rubber bar mounts might help.  If the PC rear linkage works on my Honda, might do the same for my KX.

Looks like time on my hands starting at my iPad equals spend money on MX bikes.

Comments please on the PC rear linkage systems.  Thanks, Billy

I have a PC linkage on my 450 Kawi, first time I tried it I went up a rate as suggested and it was really stiff to the point I couldn’t ride it. I took the linkage off but then I kept looking at it so tried it with my regular spring rate and so far it’s a lot better. Still figuring it out but it is an improvement especially on acceleration bumps and the initial part of the stroke, but have only ridden twice with it on this time around.

I would say get it, even just for looks the thing is trick! The new water pump cover for the bike is also cool

Thanks for the comments on the rear linkage for your green bike and about spring rates, good info.

I didn’t realize the PC water pump cover came with an impeller.  I thought it was just a cool looking pump cover until I looked at it on the PC website.

Thanks for helping me spend money 💰!

Haha, yeah those parts grab you! The hose kit is a great way of getting rid of the plastic parts too, and I run the 2019-2023 water outlet too to tidy everything up

As far as the PC water pump housing and impeller.  I haven’t given that much thought.  I’d have to switch to the Kaw OEM skid plate which I have or cut out the Acerbis skid plate I’m running to accommodate the PC water pump.  Either way it’s good.

I have the Acerbis sump guard and the PC water pump fits fine, should be all good!

Gt80rider,

You’re part way right.  Haven’t rode much lately.  I’ve had to stay close to home last few weeks/month or so.  Wife’s dad not doing well for a while.  He passed away yesterday morning.
