Hi all,
For past couple months I’ve been trying to polish some ufo plastics on my kx.
Ive tried using different paint polishes, plastic polishes and even sanding it with 3000 grit sandpaper then buffing it with tissue paper which is the closest thing I’ve gotten to a shine.
It seems like the ufo plastics are softer than oem so would anyone have any tricks to get a decent finish?
Thanks in advance
There’s a ton of videos and information on YT about plastic restoration like this one:
I would invest some time on watching some of these and you’ll definitely gonna have good results
Heat gun or propane torch to “paint” the shine back on after all the steps of sanding. Use extreme caution heating the structural integrety of the part. “Paint” the surface. I know by expierence.
Ive had the best polishing results with a buffing wheel on the end of a cordless drill on LOW speed.
A faster spin will melt the plastic. Be ready for.lint up your nose
