I can't tell you the exact variant - The factories have so much 'pull' / buying / ordering / 'quantities required' power, that they often have proprietary Alloys done for them. I've had a mate at Uni  do analysis's  of many types of alloys over the years on frames and other 'jobs' (as it's a mater of Safety / Rules and Regulations), and he's very often been  confronted with Aluminium 'concoctions' that he has never come across. 

I've done  many repairs to Aluminum frames over the decades, with NO Problems. I'm Not a f**king Amateur / Dilettante. 

A skilled welder can do a fill in with a single pass, that can then be easily filed / linished / sanded back. A hack, that fumbles and bumbles, doing multiple passes, well, Hacks can ( and Will) f**k up anything.........

I suggested the weld, as the OP has wisely chosen to do a full 'framed' rebuild. And, he's already got someone having to apply a TIG Torch to it. He's got a survivor on his hands ( and, I hope it's a 'keeper' for him, as it's the last of a great line of Bikes) and it looks like he wants to do a Proper, more than just a cosmetic rebuild - and, I love seeing that. 

Do it or Not - it sure as hell will Not weaken the frame, if done by a Real TIG specialist.

It drives me nuts when I see people - the vast majority - Not put something between Plastic and Aluminium.
