Just stoked to see championship mechanic Brent Duffe repping Moto XXX! This is the 3rd video on the Deegan YouTube channels that he's wearing Moto XXX in and ya, i think its fkn very cool. These guys just parts changers these days. The days of being an actual mechanic are long gone.
User comes in promoting their brand and links saying where to get said merch. Then user complains about down votes. I simply say it’s because they’re spamming (referring to the post and the downvotes).
I support brands that support the site promoting their product or brand it self, but most usually ask anyhow before they do it. I’ve also had non-advertisers ask me before posting and I tell them my opinion on the matter.
It’s kind of a simple concept. No big mystery here. Vital has an audience that supports the sport in financial ways. We spend a lot of money to create a platform and content that attracts the audience, brands that find value in that support us so we can keep the lights on, fund the site, pay for our travel to the races to create more content, our equipment, etc.

How are you defining Spam?
Most social media sites/apps are fine with content creators plugging products, regardless of whether the company is a paid advertiser to the platform.
The content creators bring traffic and traffic is important for selling ads.
Gobbles up every drop.
All good and fair. I understand that you got bills, and whatnot. While some may be downvoting because they see it as spam, I think there's a bigger issue with the downvotes themselves-- a more fundamental problem.
For example, one of your paid advertisers, EKS goggles (or at least did at one point), could post about a product, and they'd be downvoted into oblivion, and not just because they spammed. They'd like it even less if you supported them.
But there's a difference between someone spamming the board in a clear attempt to get views or sell products, and a long time member who occasionally posts. Seems the latter should get a little more leeway. Motoxxx has a cool history in the sport as you know.
But I'm glad to hear you dont have a problem with them posting, per say, and was just explaining why you think they were downvoted. Thumbs up.

He's put a link to his website no less than 100 times. That's a lot of free clicks using Vital's traffic that other companies usually pay for.
I will say that he at least engages in other threads. I've seen others members/companies post things, leave/not engage, come back and post other things when it's convenient/benefits them, and leave again.
Keep telling yourself that if that's what you need to make yourself sleep better at night.
Not a hill I'm going to die on but what happens when the paid advertisers realize they can just spam the forum for free?
And I don't think the down votes are for spamming, I think they're for Duffe (or does he go by DFF now?).
It's not apples to apples but other media platforms that allow companies to upload content for free seem to be doing OK financially.
My theory is Deegan would have 20% more fans if 971 would just be normal
