Cross Training
Monday and Wednesday - Hiked, walked and crawled:

Loop Length 4.5 Miles.
Elevation Gain: 1,029 Ft. and down another 1,029Ft
Max Grade 21.4%

I mostly bicycle during the year for training, man.... my legs are sore. Hiking back down the Knarly 21% grade slippery slope totally works another muscle group.

Ms. AnaErobic and I working it.

I think first you must train to have anything else you do considered cross training. I do a fair amount of MTB and a couple days a week at the gym but my recent addition of BMX racing to the lineup has taken my high heart recovery to new levels... New levels for me anyway. When I go practice a lap is between 30 to 45 seconds depending on the track. I take about a 1 minute light pedaling break between sprints and hit it again. Your heart rate goes from warmed up in the 140's to 190's and then back to the 160's and back to 190's over and over and over. Man its fun. My legs feel great for moto and my out of the saddle climbing on the MTB is unrreal!!

Yes, I agree 100% with what you said. How's your gate start snap? have you flipped the gate!

Do you have the heart rate monitor with the download data option?

I MTB a lot and its great added training to motocross. Makes your legs strong as well as heart and lungs.

You really get a feel for how your diet affects you when you cycle. If I eat like crap for a few days I can feel my heart bogging down while trying move all the sludge through.

Recently got my resting heart rate into the low 50's too.
