"How about a new all-carbon (and very tall) Yoshimura muffler that's been spotted recently, with two exhaust outlets, rather than one."

The fat can design allows for a shorter muffler housing so it does not interfere with the brake caliper...... bottom line is more volume is needed to dampen the noise. Long/Skinny or short and fat..... it's all about volume imho.

I drew up a prototype just like that about 6 years ago. I had an engineering student build it and we did sound testing and dyno testing. One version was significantly quieter and made the same power at the Yosh unit we used as a base line. The dB figures rivaled the stock muffler.

Guess I should have patented the idea huh? lol

True story.

This isn't new, Scarov (in Italy) has been doing this for a while. Cone pipes for 2-strokes, too.

I would think that it was only an end cap, and that the centre core of the muffler would be similar to any other four stroke exhaust. Similar to Yoshi's road bike range of exhausts with dual outlet exhausts.

kinda big and ugly are the first thoughts that come to mind. but then again times change and you learn to like all new innovative mx parts.

Come on guys! When you see her for the first time from behind, wouldn't you want to see 2 holes instead of just one! Woohoo

Two outlets for better balance.

Isnt that the BS that Honda had a few years ago with the twin exhaust CRF250?

No, Brent...Honda claimed it was all about mass-centralization and weight distribution.

Snicker.

Thats right, I remember now. What a crock that was. But based on Honda's theory, will a bike with this pipe not turn left very well?Tongue
