Looking at getting my 1984 KDX Kawasaki head's squish band worked on. I want to take advantage of mod to boost low-mid-range torque. From what I understand there are many factors that go into how the squish band performs (port height, stroke, piston dome shape...) along with what octane fuel you plan to use. I also understand that depending on the work a squish band mod can move the power around in the rpm range. I would think a shop would want the cylinder, piston and head to do a competent job. Yet most shops have more of a "one size fits all" approach and seem to just need the cylinder head and they will do the work. Seems they should be asking a lot more questions. Anyway any recommendations on shops that do this type of work and that specialize in older/vintage 2 strokes and are there any down sides to this modification???
